✨ SPOTLIGHT: MARBLES

Ready to get lost in a world of movement and light? Created by artist Gertjan Adema, Marbles is a giant rotating marble run that explores transformation and the connection between inner growth and outward expression.

Watch as a luminous marble travels along a spiral track, moving slowly upwards inside the sphere before emerging into an expressive dance of light and motion. With mesmerising LED patterns, geometric shapes and an enchanting soundscape, this spectacular installation creates a movement within a movement, inviting you to stop and watch as the marble’s journey unfolds.

✨ SPOTLIGHT: BEACON

📍Cedar Square, Blackpool — Map Ref. 14

What connects us to the places we call home?

BEACON is an immersive light and sound installation by artist Sarah Harris, exploring the connections between people, place and memory. Inspired by the guiding light of a seafaring beacon, its illuminated pyramid features layers of illustrated acrylic animated by light, creating mesmerising patterns that echo flowing water, tides and currents.

To develop Beacon, Sarah has been working with local communities to gather memories and stories that will become part of the artwork’s evolving soundscape. As part of the project, 53 Year 5 pupils from Westminster School in Blackpool and 20 11–13-year-olds from The Magic Club are creating translucent collages displayed upon Beacon shaped lightboxes, inspired by their own connections to the place they call home.

Sarah previously took part in Lightpool Lightlab, our artist development programme supporting artists from diverse backgrounds to explore and create high-quality light art.

✨ SPOTLIGHT: FIREFLY FIELD

What do you call a group of fireflies? A shimmer? A twinkle? ✨ Whatever the name, get ready to be enchanted!

Returning to Lightpool, Firefly Field by Studio Toer transforms the landscape into a mesmerising display of tiny, glowing lights that dance, dart and hover above the ground.

Inspired by the magical movements of real fireflies, these specially developed LED lights mimic their natural, unpredictable flight, creating a constantly changing spectacle of light reflected across the grassy slope.

Minimalist yet magical, this captivating installation celebrates the beauty of nature and the power of moving light to spark curiosity, wonder and joy.

Created by Circus Lumineszenz, Event Horizon transforms a transit space into an immersive world of light, reflections and illusion.

As light interacts with the installation, shapes twist and multiply, challenging your perception of space and reality. An atmospheric soundtrack of deep, low-frequency sounds adds another physical dimension, making the structure vibrate and resonate around you.

Prepare to be hypnotised by Hulahoop, a mesmerising kinetic light installation by Collectif Scale.

Watch as light and movement combine to create ever-changing geometric patterns, dancing through the space to an atmospheric soundtrack by Grégory Sémah.

✨ SPOTLIGHT: THE BLACKPOOL TAPESTRY

🌟 WORLD PREMIERE

📍 Unit 12, Houndshill Shopping Centre, Blackpool — Map Ref. 04

Created by Aunty Social with local communities, The Blackpool Tapestry is a spectacular 10-metre UV textile artwork inspired by the famous Bayeux Tapestry.

From a 13,500-year-old Ice Age elk to the Illuminations and Strictly Come Dancing at the Tower Ballroom, it brings Blackpool’s fascinating history to life through stitching, light and local stories.

🌟 WORLD PREMIERE - LIGHTPOOL COMMISSION

Common Ground is a collaborative lightwork created by HND students from Fashion, Photography, Illustration and Fine Art at Blackpool School of Arts. Marking 100 years of Stanley Park, the installation explores ideas of leisure, ownership of space and reconnection. Through towered responses using light, shadow and reflection, the installation invites audiences to see a familiar landscape in a new light.

At Lightpool Festival, we’re passionate about supporting artists and bringing bold, imaginative ideas to life! Earlier this year we invited artists and creatives from across the UK to share innovative proposals for new light artworks that captivate, inspire and engage audiences of all ages.

Artists receive support with production, materials, fabrication and installation costs, alongside guidance and expertise from Lightpool and Lightworks to help turn their ideas into reality.
