One of the special strengths of the bauma Innovation Award is its ability to identify exceptional innovations at an early stage – often while they are still in research, development, or testing. We strongly believe that giving these ideas the stage they deserve creates the visibility and momentum needed to take them from research into the field. That is why we are especially pleased to see projects from three bauma Innovation Award 2025 categories already in operation in Germany.
In the climate protection category, fully electric machines from Vögele and Hamm are bringing the Wirtgen Group’s concept "Local emission-free construction site" to life in Rangendingen. Using electric paving and compaction equipment, the project achieved zero operating emissions and low noise levels, showing how future-ready construction can work under real-world conditions.
In the construction category, the PERI VCT cantilever carriage is being used by Adam Hörnig Baugesellschaft in the construction of the Thulba Valley Bridge on the A7. Its bottom-running design, combined with roll reinforcement, enables greater work efficiency, a bridge with a long service life, and an active contribution to reducing traffic-related CO₂ emissions.
In the digitalisation category, Wirtgen's "Smart Automation in Roadbuilding" solution is being implemented at LEHNEN-Gruppe construction sites, showing how the paving position, steering and screed width can be automatically controlled. The result is greater precision, reduced workload for operating staff, and greater process reliability in day-to-day site operations.
It’s exciting to see innovations we’ve been following since their early stages become reality – and to witness how they are shaping the construction site of tomorrow.
We are excited to see the next generation of groundbreaking innovations and giving them an extra push at the upcoming bauma Innovation Award 2028.
