For 20 years, their cars were known as StudentCar. Now they unveil the Titan—and BDW 2026 is where it makes its public debut.
A four-seat electric supercar developed entirely in Czechia — exterior and interior design as a doctoral dissertation, engineering and manufacturing by university researchers, individual components as student diploma projects. The body combines carbon fibre composites with 3D-printed parts. A pressure wing hidden in the bumper increases downforce without added drag. The headlights were developed in collaboration with PO Lighting Czech.

Brandenburg, no longer just Berlin's hinterland!⁠
Every two years, the The Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Climate Action and European Affairs in Brandenburg awards the Designpreis Brandenburg. It is open to designers, manufacturers and clients based in Brandenburg who, in 2025, needed to convince an eleven-member jury headed by Werner Aisslinger. Nearly 150 entries came in across communication design, product and industrial design, and digital design — showing the breadth and quality Brandenburg has to offer. ⁠

The Designpreis Brandenburg hosts the Sächsischer Staatspreis für Design for the Design & Science Slam—a format that looks where research and design work together across disciplines: in materials, processes, products and systems where neither discipline gets there alone.
Four pairs, each made up of one team from Brandenburg and one from Saxony, take on a shared theme—from material innovation to sports and medical technology to circular design. Seven minutes per team to pitch, then Werner Aisslinger and Merle Genc move in to question the pairs—both drawn from the juries of the two state awards, here in a hosting role. The audience has a say in how it ends.
No losers at this Slam—the winners are the audience, good design, and lively networking across the state line.

Five Berlin positions, one question: what can a surface do?
"piccolo mondo" at the Budapester Salon brings together makers who each answer differently. Zascho Petkow — master cabinetmaker since 2001, objects between craft and contemporary design. Atelier Haußmann — metal and wood furniture with graphic, industrial silhouettes. Elisa Strozyk — wood deconstructed into thin tiles on a textile base, a material that looks and smells like wood but moves like fabric. Heike Buchfelder — feathers, glass, paper, metal, always searching for what a material can do beyond its familiar form. Polsterhans — upholstery as design practice, fabric as surface with attitude.

Tonight also: Martin Jasper opens ARCHITECTURE ICONS with his talk "Beyond Context" — the first in a new series by Berlin Design Week and Budapester Salon. RSVP required for the talk; the exhibition is accessible to talk guests only this evening.

Part of tonight's programme is FABIAN FREYTAG STUDIO—one of the world's most influential interior design studios, for many years one of the finest evening stops of Berlin Design Week. This year, Fabian presents "Behind the Blinds": new work that asks what lies on the other side of surfaces, barriers, and half-drawn curtains. Inspired by Tanaka's secret underground train from You Only Live Twice—a space that only reveals itself to those who pass through it.
