A dream come true for our 10-year-old selves. 💜

Pro women’s teams to cheer for 📣, athletes to inspire us ⭐, jerseys to wear and more opportunities to play in our communities. 🏀⚽🏒

On this UN’s International Day of the Girl, let’s celebrate where we are and thank those who have fought for change.

We also recognize those who continue to work towards a future where every girl has a chance to play. 💜

Women’s sport history is filled with milestones and historic firsts worth celebrating.

Each of those moments began much earlier, when someone had the opportunity to play.

That’s why access at the grassroots level matters. A first try may feel like a small moment, but we never know where it could lead. 💜

The momentum in women’s sport is real.

Canada’s professional women’s sport market doubled in two years, equal prize money is coming to the National Bank Open in 2027, and participation at the grassroots level is growing.💜🔥

We want to keep that momentum going by amplifying the voices and organizations moving girls' and women’s sport forward.🎤

Here are a few Canadian voices contributing to that movement:

Canadian Women & Sport
Girls Forward Foundation
She’s4Sports by Ainka Jess
The Sport Sisterhood
Tennis Canada and its Game. Set. Equity. initiative
Inclusion in Canadian Sports Network
SHE’S GOT NEXT
ASN
Her Game Toronto

Who else should we be amplifying?

Our latest StrongHER Spotlight features Lauren Rowe, AFC Toronto forward and Her Sports Fest Athlete Ambassador. ⚡️

Lauren was named the Northern Super League’s Player of the Month for June, but she is also quick to recognize the teammates and people around her who help make success possible.

In her spotlight, Lauren talks about what excellence means to her, what kept her going through long-term injuries, the connections built through sport and why younger athletes shouldn’t be afraid of making mistakes.

Sign up for our newsletter to receive Lauren’s full story on September 17 - www.hersportsfest.ca💜⚽️
