Corral #1 1:20-2:00 hours
Corral #2 2:01-2:20 hours
Corral #3 2:21-3:30 hours
You will be assigned to a corral/starting position based on the estimated finishing time you provided upon registration. If you need to change your projected finishing time, contact us at: [email protected] with your new estimated finishing time. All changes must be received NO LATER than Oct. 15, 2012. We will have cyclists lead the way.
5k Start Line: The 5k starts at the same line as the Half. We will have cyclists lead the way. Timing: We will be using the Champion Chip Timing system. With this technology your timing chip is placed on your shoe. It must be correctly worn on race day for your race time to be accurately captured. Important Info:
1.Wear your chip on your shoe. Do not wear on your back, side, leg or arm.
2.Loop a single lace through the square holes of the Chip and pull it tightly to the shoe.
3.If given a small plastic zip-tie, attach Chip to lower laces with the zip-tie. Remember, now it's "NO CHIP = NO TIME!” Time Limit for the Half Marathon: The time limit is 3 hours, 30 minutes for completing the half marathon race before the finish line is dismantled. Race Results: Results will be posted later on race day
Finisher Medal: All finishers (both in the Half Marathon & 5k) will receive a unique finisher’s medal/memento. Art for 2012 finisher medals will be posted when available.
•Course Description:
◦This mainly flat course is also scenic! Its paved roads and paths pass the new Downsview Park lake twice, pass historic hangars used by de Havilland to build and house WW2 planes, pass the new “Mounds” (hills) of Downsview Park, through the Canadian Forces base and take you around the airport where planes and jets will be parked for your viewing pleasure! The route is closed to the public though it does cross some residential intersections where traffic will be held back. Lots of water/aid stations along the route. Half marathon route map will be up soon. Awards for the Half: Top 3 men & women overall and top 3 per male & female age groups (5-year age groups)
Awards for the 5k: Top 3 men & women overall and top 3 per male & female age groups (10-year age groups)
Race Features:
•Water & Sport Drink
◦Pre-race: At the Start/Finish line
◦On course: At each aid station
◦Post-race: at the Finish Line and the Party Site
•Baggage Check Baggage opens on race day at 6:45am. You are strongly encouraged to deposit your bag as early as possible. Use the removable baggage tag on your bib and attach it to your bag.
•Toilets: The Discovery Centre – our race HQ – has lots of toilets for our use. We have porta-potties on the course at aid/water stations. Give yourself plenty of time to use the toilets as 1,200 people can't all use them 15 minutes before the race!
•Watching the Action: You can watch your friends and family start and finish the race at the start/finish line and along the last 500m to the finish line. Or walk over to the lake and watch them go past twice.
