🎻🪭 Next Month: at Wavelength @ St. Anne’s Block Party!

Maris Pihlap is a singer, producer, and DJ whose path into music began with folk music as a violinist, but has since evolved into into electronic production, songwriting, and DJ culture. Her recent work explores Estonian pop through a subtle amapiano lens, reflected in an EP featuring artists like Reket, villemdrillem, Jüri Pootsmann, and EiK — one of the first local releases influenced by the genre. Earlier solo albums, released under TIKS rekords, received nominations at the Estonian Music Awards and helped shape her voice as a producer and artist.

Alongside her own projects, Maris works behind the scenes as a producer, backing vocalist, and collaborator for other artists. In recent years, she’s also built a presence in Tallinn’s nightlife, shaping atmospheres as a DJ with style and precision.

🎤⚽️🎉

Legendary in the Estonian-Canadian community, the Lindau Sisters grew up together in music - learning, rehearsing and shining on the stage. But what made them tick, spending all that time together? 👀 Hear from the sisters themselves.

And stay tuned for part 3 where we ask about the time commitment it took to be able to perform internationally. 🎙️

05/14/2026

Lindau Sisters aka Lindau õed rose to stardom in the Estonian diaspora in Canada in the 70's and 80's. They were quickly performing all over North America, anywhere estos were gathering culminating with a tour in across Estonia in 1994. Hear how they got started with their musical journey. 🎶

And come back for part 2 to find out what it was like growing up as a performing family ansamble and how much sibling fighting was involved.

We're absolutely delighted seeing this tour coming to life! These are the kind of connections EMW and the Nordic Connect Conference are all about.

🇪🇪 Hosted in Estonian

Inspired by Haldi’s love for 1970s–1980s Estonian and diaspora music - and the Lindau Sisters’ rising presence on the local scene - this special event brings generations and musical worlds together.

The afternoon begins with an intimate conversation, where Haldi and the Lindau Sisters share stories from their creative journeys and reflect on the musical heritage of both the Estonian diaspora and Soviet-era Estonia.

The evening then flows into a warm, atmospheric concert featuring the silver-voiced Haldi and guitarist Mattias Tirmaste, taking listeners on a journey through beloved classics, original compositions, and a few surprise moments along the way.

The event is presented by VEMU in partnership with Estonian Relief Committee in Canada and Ehatare Foundation.

🇪🇪
Tulemas on mõnus retrohõnguline pärastlõuna koos Haldi + Ans. Flamingo Duo ja meie kohalike staaride, Lindau õdedega - pühapäeval, 8. märtsil k 4 p.l. Tartu College’is! Haldi huvi 1970.-1980. aastate kodumaa ja väliseesti muusika vastu ning Lindau õdede tähelend samal ajal tekitasid korraldajate peades idee – tuleb nad kokku viia.

Pärastlõuna algab vestlusega, mille käigus on võimalus lähemalt tutvust teha Haldi ja Lindau õdedega. Õhtu jätkub kontserdiga intiimses ja sumedas meeleolus - esinevad hõbehäälne Haldi ja kitarrist Mattias Tirmaste, viies meid rännakule läbi kodumaise muusikamaastiku ja Haldi omaloomingu. On oodata ka üllatuspalasid! Piletid $20,/$10 (õppurid).

Tule ja naudime koos erilist õhtut!

Celebrating milestones with excellent food and Estonian music is the way to go, if you were to ask us. Haldi muusika is coming to Toronto to ring in the 75th anniversary of Estonian Relief Committee in Canada along with Andres Allas from Saltrestoran on March 7th.

The event raises funds for our friends at Ehatare - the only Estonian-language retirement home outside of Estonia, offering culturally meaningful care to seniors from across Canada.
