Our Thai Festival Foundation, represented by Mr. Salatan Duangdangchote, was honoured to meet with H.E. Mr. Darm Boontham, Ambassador-designate of Thailand to Canada, and Mrs. Anthika Boontham at the Thai Residence in Ottawa.

We were joined by Mrs. Sukitja Whitcomb of the Canadian Thai Cultural Council (CTCC) and the Thai Dance Troupe of Ottawa (TDO) who leads the performance at our festival.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration to promote Thai arts and culture across Canada, including upcoming Thai festivals in Ottawa and Toronto, in celebration of the 65th anniversary of Thailand–Canada diplomatic relations in 2026.

On 18 February 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, in partnership with the Embassy of Canada in Bangkok, unveiled the official anniversary logo commemorating the 65th anniversary of Thailand-Canada diplomatic relations—featuring the elephant and maple leaf as symbols of unity and lasting connection. One of the highlights was a Khon performance by Benjamin Tardif, a Canadian artist whose love for Thai culture reflects the genuine exchange between both countries.

Over the years, this relationship has expanded through trade, education, innovation, and cultural exchange. At Thai Festival Toronto, we celebrate not just Thai heritage, but the connection that continues to bring our two countries closer.
