Hold onto you your hats, my friends - we have a date!!!!

(Actually, you won’t need to hold onto your hats since if it’s windy….just head inside! This year’s event is in a new location, designed as an indoor/outdoor hybrid event with ongoing inside options to feature the historical buildings and outdoor options to showcase some special plans we have!)

So much is in the works and although I can’t spill the beans yet, I can say that the Fergus Fibre Festival will be on:

SATURDAY JULY 17th, 2027

At a historic location with a beautiful view…we can’t wait to share all the info and Fergus Yarn Co and Miranda Holmes are brimming with excitement in this year’s planning!

Hey Fibre Friends!

It’s been quiet on the Fergus Fibre Festival front…but that’s because something BIG is brewing! (And not just another crazy wind storm!!!)

We have ideas coming to fruition and hope to wow you with our wonderful new and exciting, one of a kind, venue for 2027! THIS has not been done anywhere before, and I can’t begin to think of a better marriage of fibre, location and history!

Good morning Fibre Friends….ROAD TRIP ALERT!

Yes, my Fibre Peeps, we are heading out to the WILDS of Lombardy, On to the Ontario East Fibre Fest this weekend. A whole weekend in the country, with farms, sheep, wool, yarn, fibre artists and local craftsmanship! We can’t wait to breathe that fresh country air brimming with creativity!

They’ll be showcasing Canadian artisans, local farmers, and sustainable practices. With close to 40 vendors, visitors are invited to explore hand-dyed yarns, wool, and fibre arts of every kind, all created by skilled Canadian makers. Beyond the marketplace, the festival hosts fibre-producing animals and crafting demos, connecting visitors to the source of their materials and the traditions that sustain them.

The 2026 festival runs Saturday Oct 3 from 10am-5pm, and Sunday Oct 4 from 10am-5pm

Fergus Yarn Co will be packing the truck to the hilts and bringing all our luscious, quality, Canadian milled/hand dyed fibres out to the Lombardy Fairgrounds for a weekend of meeting, greeting and wooly chats with you - our eastern Fibre Friends! We will be smack-dab in the middle between Peterborough and Ottawa…it’ll be worth the drive to see all the wooly wonders, hand dyed, farmer-made, locally crafted CANADIAN fibre goods.

(And worth the drive as the autumn country roads are STUNNING at this time of year here)

Exciting event coming to the Elora Centre for the Arts:

“STITCHING STORIES: an Autumn evening of fibre, the arts and friendship”

Join us at this most beautiful of venues, the recently rennnovated Elora Centre For the Arts. Bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, spinning, or any other craft - or simply bring yourself. Settle into an evening of stories, live music, and autumn atmosphere in the beautiful surroundings of Elora.

The stunning large windowed atrium of the gallery allows you to immerse in Elora’s autumn glory while you enjoy an evening of the arts and perhaps your favourite craft. You bring your handiwork, friends or just yourself and we will bring you cozy/spooky entertainment.

Throughout the evening, performers will share readings, stories, poetry, and music inspired by the season. Expect cozy autumn atmosphere, a bassoon with a tenebrous melody, folklore, mystery, and gothic classics in the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe…tales that celebrate the beauty, wonder, and changing colours of autumn.

Interspersed with the performances will be times to chat, sip some hot apple c***r and relax with your fibre friends. Whether you are stitching, crafting, listening, or simply looking for a unique evening out, Stitching Stories offers a welcoming space to gather, and enjoy the magic of live performance.

So bring a project, bring a friend, or come on your own and make yourself at home among fellow lovers of stories, music, and creativity.

That’s right Fibre Friends, we are doing a trunk show on Saturday with Kat’s Craft Corner - I have a truckload of luxurious, hand dyed, Canadian milled yarn from Fergus and am eager to return to Oshawa with our hand dyed lovelies! We’d love to meet and greet with you and show you what we have to offer.

So, if you’re around this weekend, able to go to the Oshawa area and are in need of some squishiness, some fibre-luxury, want to bathe in an array of palettes, colours and possibilities - come to Kat’s! Meet up with Dan & myself and let’s talk YARN! Let me see your projects and maybe plan a new one.
