This Thursday, we’re throwing it back to February 2001 with one of the columns called “InsideLine”, which was a series of articles written by Steve Brouggy for Australian Motorcycle Trader. In this one Steve talks about body position when riding a bike, including the benefits and relevance of ‘hanging off’ – and whether or not it’s something you should consider. Although the use of this technique is widely recognised and understood today, that definitely wasn’t the case 25 years ago…

Check out this for a mid-week vibe! An intimate video showing one of our friendly staff doing a final safety check on riders as they are about to enter the track. We do this at the beginning of every session, making sure each and every rider is zipped up with helmets fastened correctly, so they are 100% ready to enjoy their ride in the safest possible way.

This week’s Throwback Thursday takes us back to the iconic 2009 World Superbike Championship, the year BMW officially entered WorldSBK with the first version of the ground-breaking S 1000 RR.

At the time, Ducati was already the benchmark superbike manufacturer, having won 15 x Constructor Championships and 13 x Riders Championships from 21 x seasons. Winning riders included reigning World Champion (at the time) Aussie Troy Bayliss in 2008.

Despite it taking many years before finally winning championships in 2024 & 2025, the BMW superbike released in 2009 marked the beginning of a whole new era, and is widely recognised as the start of the modern technology war in Superbike racing. Manufacturers pushed the limits with advanced traction control, rider aids, sophisticated data systems, and massive horsepower battles that would forever change superbike competition.

Want to ride the descendants of this historical time? BMW S 1000 RR’s and Ducati Panigale V4S’s are available for hire at each and every Ride Day. Also available are the up-spec models as used in the Full Factory Experience. The only question now is…which one do you choose?
