2025 WA Day Festival events took place across the state in June, with the two-day festival at Burswood Park taking place 22–23 November.

Fremantle, we’re back! 💛

After our WA Day Festival celebrations couldn’t go ahead in June, we’re finally heading back to Fremantle on Sunday 11 October for a huge FREE day by the water!

Get ready for live music and entertainment, cultural performances, family activities, mermaids and roaming characters, interactive experiences and plenty more across Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour and Bathers Beach.

Experience the cultures and communities that make Fremantle so special, with everything from Aboriginal culture and Italian heritage to Brazilian rhythms, Cuban music and Filipino dance – before a spectacular Sunset of Fire finale brings the Festival to a close. 🔥

A well-deserved spotlight on our 2026 Western Australian of the Year, Dr Jim Giumelli 💛

7NEWS Perth recently visited the Motivation Foundation to see firsthand the incredible work Jim and his team are doing to change the lives of young Western Australians.

Through practical training, mentoring and pathways into employment, the Foundation is giving young people the skills, confidence and opportunities to build brighter futures 🙌

It’s this lasting impact on others that makes Jim such a deserving Western Australian of the Year ✨

The WA Day Festival is coming to Gwoonwardu Mia on Friday 9 October for a free afternoon celebrating the people, stories and culture that make Western Australia so special.

Get ready for live cultural performances, family-friendly activities, face painting, reptile encounters, delicious local food and a spectacular community-led fire sculpture display bringing the stories of the Gascoyne to life.

With Term 3 underway it's time to get your class creating! 🎤

The 2026 WA Day Junior Reporter Competition gives WA primary school students the chance to share what they love about Western Australia – and one student will have the opportunity to work alongside a 7NEWS journalist at the WA Day Festival.

Getting involved is simple: choose your Junior Reporter, record a short video answering “What do you love about Western Australia – and why?”, and submit their entry online.

Need a hand getting started? Our free Schools Toolkit includes lesson plans, classroom activities and resources to make it easy to run as a classroom project.

Entries close 5.00pm AWST, Wednesday 30 September 2026.
