πŸ’™ And that's a wrap on the 2026 Geraldton WA Day Festival πŸ’™

Despite a weekend of wild weather, our Geraldton community came together for a fantastic celebration of everything that makes Western Australia special.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Museum of Geraldton for a day filled with live music, multicultural food, family activities, cultural performances, wildlife encounters, wheelchair basketball, art, adventure and so much more.

From the Karloo Rockers, Darcy Hay, Jay Gaynor, Nick Austin and Menma on stage, to the First Nations sand art, community mural, Bollywood dancing and Chinese tea ceremony, the day showcased the diversity, creativity and community spirit that make Geraldton such a special place.

In a year where severe weather impacted WA Day celebrations across much of the State, Geraldton proudly kept the celebrations alive and delivered a wonderful day for locals and visitors alike.

Thank you to our event partners, performers, volunteers, vendors and everyone who helped make the day possible. Most of all, thank you to everyone who came along and celebrated with us.

πŸ‰πŸ’›πŸ–€ It's WA Day Round at Optus Stadium today!

A little rain isn't going to stop us celebrating everything that makes WA great.

Join us as the West Coast Eagles take on Essendon and keep an eye out for some of our inspiring Western Australian of the Year winners in the Guard of Honour.

The 2026 Western Australian of the Year is Dr Jim Giumelli ✨

A visionary business leader, mentor, and philanthropist, Jim has dedicated more than 40 years to creating opportunities for others across Western Australia. As founder of Ertech, he transformed a small civil construction company into a thriving employee-owned enterprise built on integrity, loyalty, and shared success.

Beyond business, Jim’s impact can be seen through his commitment to young people, education, and medical research. Through the Motivation Foundation, he has helped create pathways into vocational careers for hundreds of disadvantaged young Australians, while his support for motor neurone disease research and rural scholarships continues to change lives behind the scenes.

Respected for his humility, generosity, and unwavering belief in helping others succeed, Jim’s legacy extends far beyond the construction industry shaping futures, strengthening communities, and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

After first being recognised with the 2026 Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA Business Award, Dr Jim Giumelli has now been named the 2026 Western Australian of the Year.

🌟 Congratulations to all of our 2026 category winners and finalists, whose passion, leadership, and achievements continue to make Western Australia stronger.
