Meet Brent Weaver, an Acting Captain with Toronto Fire Services, 24 years of emergency service experience, and a multi-sport competitor who has been part of the World Police & Fire Games community since 2011 🚒🏅
What keeps Brent coming back? The chance to compete, test himself against fellow first responders and build friendships that last far beyond the competition. Over the years, Games competitors have become lifelong friends, visiting each other around the world and even staying with Brent and his family in Toronto🤝🌎
For Perth 2027, Brent will compete in pickleball, mixed slow-pitch, rowing, co****le and dodgeball. His pickleball journey began in Arizona, where a group of retired firefighters welcomed him into their games and quickly showed him there was plenty of room to improve! 😄
Winnipeg 2023 was a standout, with Brent winning two gold medals and a silver in pickleball. But for him, the friendships were just as important, including a mixed doubles partnership that continued into the 2025 Games despite living in different parts of Canada 🥇🥇🥈
In 2025, Brent also helped organise a Toronto Fire slow-pitch team that won the department’s first-ever medal in the sport — a huge achievement for a service with more than 100 years of history 🥎🏅
Now, Perth 2027 combines two things Brent loves: sport and travel. Having never visited Australia, he’s excited to experience Perth and hopes athletes feel the same community spirit that made previous Games so special.
His advice? “These games are an incredible experience that must be done at some point in one’s career.”
And with a passion for sport and international friendships dating back to his teenage years, Brent is ready to bring that spirit to Perth.
See you in Perth, Brent! 🚒
