A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 8am in Richley Recreation Reserve, New Lambton. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer.

Blackbutt parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 8am in Newcastle, NSW, Australia. Blackbutt parkrun is FREE and open to people of all standards and ages, both as volunteers and as runners / walkers. We encourage people of every ability to take part, from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians, from juniors 5 years or older to those with decades of experience. All runners receive encouragement and enjoy being part of a community event open to all standards. Equally, our volunteer teams come from a huge variety of backgrounds and we urge everybody to get involved in organising their local events at least 3 times per year.

Another big turnout for Parkrun this week, with runners, joggers and walkers enjoying pristine conditions for their 5km outing. From the amazingly speedy at the front to the 3 Tailwalkers at the end, it was a glorious morning for all.

Many dressed in red and did the 'Parkwalk for Daniel' to promote child safety awareness - an initiative of the Daniel Morecombe Foundation.

Happy Halloween to everyone and I hope the neighbours are generous to all the ghouls and goblins tonight!

Yes a 500th celebrated today! And congratulations to the 244 people who completed today's Blackbutt parkrun. The sun was out for our biggest event in a while. Hopefully everyone got a piece of cake before the magpies helped themselves! A warm welcome to the first timers and visitors.
Hours of preparation went into those speeches today 😉
And as always, thanks today's volunteers 👏

What a wonderful day at Blackbutt today! Speciak thanks to all those who attended, in blue, and offered congratulations to me for my 500th parktun. Thanks to Dave McGaw and Pav organising my 500 shirt! Cory Newman for her great poem and energy, Jason McKendry for his intro and stats, Mark Cav and Jise for photography, and all the others who assisted June in organising the cake, balloons and finish tunnel.
Also special thanks to wife June for her support and forbearance through the years leading up to this day! Wonderful wife, great life!
And thaks tocall the supporters and well-wishers out on thectrack today! Much appreciated. Thank you all!🥳🏃‍♂️🧑‍🦽
