We support the arts in the Hunter region NSW, and focus on emerging and experimental practice across all creative disciplines. This is Not Art, or TiNA, (formerly Octapod) was established in 1997 as a not-for-profit artist association. Today, we are the Hunter's premier arts service organisation, supporting the development of emerging and experimental practice across all creative disciplines. Our
remit to foster and support experimental practice is vital to a constantly evolving art world, where much of contemporary art, music, dance and theatre revel in the margins between two or more disciplines. Our annual program has two phases:
> The 'showcase' phase in the month of October when we present the This is Not Art (TiNA) Festival.
> The 'development' phase for the remainder of the year where we support various projects of experimental and emerging artists and collectives. About the Festival:
The This is Not Art Festival is one of Australia's leading emerging and experimental arts festivals and provides a platform for innovative and passionate culture makers to conceive, collaborate and present their ideas. It was first presented in 1998 as a three-day festival held in early October; a mashup of multiple smaller festivals including National Young Writers Festival, Sound Summit, Crack Festival and Critical Animals. In 2022, the TiNA Festival is open to all collaborators and contributors and will run for the month of October. As a not-for-profit and registered charity, donations over $2 are tax deductible.
