*About the film*

Our November pick for the Kinema Film Society is "The Grand Arch".

In 1982, French President Francois Mitterrand launches an international competition to design a grand new monument at La Défense, on the edge of Paris. The surprise winner is Otto von Spreckelsen, a little-known Danish architect whose design is a vast, pure white hollow cube.

As construction begins, his vision runs into budget cuts, political pressure and endless compromise. Spreckelsen and his wife have to decide how much they're willing to give up for his dream to be built exactly as he imagined it.

Directed by Stéphane Demoustier and starring Claes Bang, The Great Arch is the true story behind one of Paris's most striking landmarks. French with English subtitles.
