SATURDAY 13th JUNE

In the field of 150 players, 78 elected to play in the Monthly Medal while the remainder chose the Stableford event. Good scoring was inexplicably difficult, as only two players equalled their handicap in Stroke and one bettered it in Stableford. As a result, the balls went two-thirds of the way down 77 nett and to almost all on 30 points in the respective competitions.

Ben Sealey took out A Grade with 72 net off his handicap of 5 on countback from Brendan Warby, with Tony Rudd in third place on 73 nett.

In B Grade Ken Brown prevailed with 74 nett off his handicap of 17 ahead of Rick Porter on 75, while a four-way countback on 76 gave third place to Wayne Rollings ahead of Bec Smart, Blake Thornhill and Scott Bridge.

Shannon Skinner was the winner of C Grade with 74 nett off his handicap of 24 ahead of Peter Wilson on 76, while another four-way countback on
78 gave third place to Karl De Preu ahead of Andrew Barry, Richard Bodell and Ian Lowe.

In the A Grade division of the Stableford event Richard Goodridge was the winner with 38 points off his handicap of 12 ahead of John Murray and Eddie Harvey on 34 and 31 points respectively.

Bob Piper took out B Grade with 35 points off his handicap of 16 ahead of Dorelle Monteith on countback, while yet another four-way countback on 33 points gave third place to Wendy Lowe ahead of Les Campbell, Cheryl O'Kane and Kerry Gardner.

The nearest-the-pin winners were Kevin Phillips on 3, Allan Chisholm, Chris Fader, Eddie Harvey and Murray Walpole on 9, Ray Hille on 14 and Craig Milroy on 17

THURSDAY 11th JUNE

Some fine scores were recorded by the 135 strong field where the highlight was Scott Harris' six-under-par round of 66 to register 42 points off his scratch handicap to win A Grade. Trevor Breust was runner-up on 39 points while a three-way countback decided third place in favour of Mark Anderson who went round in par off his handicap of 1 ahead of Allan Maddison and Bill Durnan. Colin Holmes went round in one-under-par to post 36 points off his plus 1 handicap.

Steve Dobson score 41 points off his handicap of 17 to win B Grade easily ahead of James Robinson on 38 points, while Perry Pericleous edged out Paul Davey ( yet again!) on countback on 37 points to finish third.

A four-way countback on 35 points decided C Grade for Derek Smith off a handicap of 20 , ahead of Geoff Broadfoot and Greg Ryan, with Rod Shepherd missing out.

The nearest-the-pin winners were Bill Durnan on 3, Scott Harris on 9, Rod Fletcher on 14 and Greg Riley on 18, while the ball competition went down to the early 32 points range.

Thirty-four players contested the Women’s Stableford on Wednesday. The weather held off and playing conditions were good and scores were close.

Eight Narooma women travelled to Bermagui to play in their annual Tee off for Breast Cancer Trials Charity Golf Day on Wednesday 10 June.

Narooma enjoyed a few wins in the golf and the raffles and were delighted to be able to contribute to this important fundraising event.

Meanwhile those choosing to stay and play at home dug deep and donated a generous $300, which will be passed on to Bermagui for this very worthy cause.
The kindness and generosity of members of our club never fails to impress.

Fine conditions continued for the final round of the Seahorse Classic.

In A Grade, Mick Miller (Queanbeyan) won Gross with 71 from Ben Ritchie (Narooma) on 74. Gavin Ballinger claimed the Nett on countback with 71 from Henry Darragh (Gold Creek).

B Grade Gross went to Jai Reed (Narooma) with 78 on countback from Marty Brooker (Goulburn). Brent Chalker won the Nett for the third straight day with 71, ahead of David Small (Tropics Townsville) on 73, who prevailed on countback from Mitchell Davies (Narooma), Aaron Patten (Sale) and Michael Bornholt (Gold Creek).

In C Grade, Mark Roberts (Neangar Park) won Gross with 83 from Craig Anthony (Heidelberg) on 84. Ben Falconer (Mackay) took the Nett with 71 on countback from Tom Craig (Royal Melbourne).

Long drives were won by Adam Harris (Narooma), Will Wright (Gungahlin Lakes) and Mitchell Foster (Wagga Country).

Nearest-the-pin winners were Phil Harry (Gold Creek) on 3, Scott Harris (Narooma) on 9, Jordan Lang (Future Golf) on 14 and Shannon Bridger (Cumberland) on 17. The ball competition went down to 75 nett.

2026 Seahorse Classic Champions

Mick Miller (Queanbeyan) won the overall Gross title with 219, ahead of Kris Cole (Royal Canberra) on 228. Remarkably, Miller’s previous Seahorse Classic victory came in 2012.

Michael Turner (Narooma) won the overall Nett with 226, one shot clear of Henry Darragh (Gold Creek), with Matthew Maxwell (Kiama) third on countback.

In B Grade, Brent Chalker (Queanbeyan) won Gross with 241 from Aaron Patten (Sale) on 245, while Jai Reed (Narooma) took the Nett with 216 ahead of John Hargreaves (Sale).

Mark Roberts (Neangar Park) won C Grade Gross with 252 from Rod Favero (Howlong) on 263, who edged Neil Millward (Rosnay) on countback. Kim Murphy (Russell Vale) claimed the Nett with 225 from Ben Falconer (Mackay) on 226, with Falconer prevailing on countback from James McMahon (Randwick).

SUNDAY 7th JUNE

The fine weather continued for the second round where Harrison Savage from Sale posted 71 in the A Grade Gross event ahead of Mick Miller from Queanbeyan on 72. Narooma players took out the Nett with Blain Hayward edging out Mal Gregor on countback on 72 to take the honours.

In the B Grade Gross event Bill Durnan from Narooma prevailed with 79 ahead of Michael Bornholt from Gold Creek, while the Nett event again went to Brent Chalker from Queanbeyan with 71 ahead of Robert Craig from Royal Melbourne on 72.

In the C Grade Gross event the spoils went to James McMahon from Randwick with 82 ahead of Rod Favero from Howlong on 74, while Chris Marshall from Queanbeyan won the Nett with 70 ahead of Kim Murphy from Russell Vale on 71.

In the long drives A Grade went to Josh Russo from Cumberland, B Grade to Ben Ernst from Heidelberg and C Grade to Charles Craig from Royal Melbourne. The nearest-the-pin winners were Carl Turner from Sale on 3, Blain Hayward from Narooma on 9, Matthew Maxwell from Kiama on 14 and Doug McKinnon from Gungahlin Lakes on 17.
