THANK YOU Big Dry Friday and Morgan’s - a major sponsor of Outback Rowing’s Bush Towns and Outback Kids Initiative. 🌾 With a passion for building resilience in the outback, and improving the mental wellbeing of people living in regional and rural Australia, it made for the perfect partnership.

On the Friday before the Mort & Co Australian Outback Rowing Regatta 2026 we ran a training afternoon with school boarders - both experienced and some wanting to learn to row - in Barcaldine. ✨It was a great opportunity for bush kids to enjoy rowing in the outback while getting some hands-on coaching to improve their rowing skill and ability. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this happen.

DAY 2 of the Mort & Co Australian Outback Rowing Regatta in Longreach 🚣‍♀️ There were some very exciting battles, and in the end the City crew took out first place for the city vs country fastest eight. We also saw a number of incredible races take out across the day, and can’t thank our everyone who came far and wide to join the Outback Regatta.

From all reports, everyone had a great time, saw improvements in their rowing and had an experience like no other. 💥Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen, including the Outback Rowing committee who volunteer their time to bring together such a special event, and of course all of our sponsors and partners who helped us bring this year’s regatta to life. Lastly, regatta’s like this don’t happen without our incredible community of rowing, both city and country, who train regularly and make the big trip out to join - thank you!🌾

We’d love to hear your favourite memory of this year’s outback regatta - comment below. 👇🏼

A big thank you to the David Mactaggart Family Foundation for their generous support and sponsorship in helping bring this year’s regatta to life. 🌾

With a shared passion in boosting the health and wellbeing of outback Australians, their support along with all of our sponsors and partners, has allowed us to bring a regatta to regional Australia. As Dr Toby Ford, a founding committee member says, “when you’re out on the water, you’re focusing on your stroke, your crew, and rowing. You’re not focusing on the drought, the hardship of farming, or mental struggles you may be facing.” This opportunity for physical activity in a sport often laid to rest at high school also brings about it a great opportunity for mental wellbeing and community building. These core values are exactly what the David Mactaggart Foundation support in the hopes of boosting the wellbeing of regional Australians. ☀️
