Meet the trail heroes through Gail 🧡
A few years back at Jolly Jumbuck, Gail badly rolled her ankle. What followed was a reminder of what trail running is really all about.
She shares this moment from the course:
“I was feeling invincible… until about the 5.5 km mark… rolled the old ankle pretty bad and was swelling up quickly, but I was determined to keep moving.
Thank you to the many runners that stopped to check on me and offered help, my friend Mish, and my two running buddies Tony and Clint, and St John Ambulance team for their care.
BUT the BIGGEST THANK YOU goes to Monica, a complete stranger to me (not any more of course), who refused to leave me and helped me make my way back to the start line. It took us nearly 3 hours to get back. When I was really struggling, Monica even piggy backed me for small stints. There is no way I would have made it back without Monica’s help ❤️”
Stories like this are what make our trail community so special. The trails, yes, but also the people, and the kindness that carries you to every finish line 🧡
Jolly Jumbuck is only TWO WEEKS away and we can’t wait to share the trails with you!!
