Chermside parkrun

Chermside parkrun Chermside parkrun is a free, timed, 5km run/walk put on by the community for the community at 7am ev The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once!

parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5km timed run, jog or walk. It can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. Chermside parkrun offers an opportunity for all members of our local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy our beautiful environment and get physically active in the process.

We want to encourage people to walk, jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE! Taking part is easy – just register in advance by 6pm on the Friday before your first ever parkrun event. Print out your barcode to bring along to the run, then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!

Chermside parkrun
Event number 515
30th May 2026

This week 291 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 40 were first timers and 26 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 20 different clubs took part, and we welcomed people from Stanthorpe, Gladstone and Sydney to our lovely course.

We appreciate your understanding during the briefing where we experienced technical difficulties with the megaphones, and for a brief mix-up at the finishing funnel during today's event.

The event was made possible by 17 volunteers:

Tracey WOOD • Melissa MURPHY • Paul MAKER • Delia HOWARD • Marcus ZIMMERMAN • Rebecca MARSH • Paula COLLINS • Lindsay BAYNE • Jack X ROACHE • Arifah HASTIE • Kazuko NAKABUN • Joshua RISCHIN • Loretta MURRAY • Patrick WALSH • Kylie BARNARD • Anthony OLSEN • Tiara BOX

Our roster for QLD Day next week is looking good thanks to our wonderful Chermside community, while our roster for the 13th June has been filled thanks to Brisbane Frontrunners. We have plenty of vacant roles open from the 20th June, so if anyone wants to try their hand at volunteering, reach out and we can find a role for you.

For QLD Day next weekend, we encourage everyone to come dressed in maroon to celebrate our great state.

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Chermside parkrun Results Page.

The vests are washed, barcodes sorted, and the volunteer roster is full for event #515 tomorrow morning.

While the forecast is looking clear and sunny for tomorrow (compared to dreary and overcast in the photo), we are expecting there to be a few puddles along the course following the rain over the last few days. A course check will be done in the morning, but consider bringing the old shoes along just in case.

We’ll do a First Timers Welcome around 6:45, with the main briefing from 6:50.

Lovely conditions presented for us at Chermside parkrun this morning. 339 people ran, jogged and walked the course. There were 77PBs and 33 first timers to Chermy. Congratulations to Elliot, Zachary and Cara on their 10th run milestone, Ore and Ebonee on their 25, Manjunath on # 50 and Matt on his 250th.

Also, thank you to everyone that assisted us with the keep left safety rule. One of our local community members coming the other way not long after the start, around the 350m mark, misunderstood our calls to keep left and thought that we were shouting at her to get out of the way. On reflection we really do feel this was a simple misunderstanding, but she did approach our Run Director a little upset. So maybe the learning is firstly, thank you for attempting to look after our community and secondly may be the words 'take care -runner up' would assist (perhaps).

We have a lovely kind welcoming community at Chermside parkrun with numbers growing all the time. With this growth comes a requirement to be particularly safety conscious of each other and our community - we thank you for your consideration.

Thank you so much to these legends who volunteered today making parkrun possible:

Grant O'Hara, Caeleigh Hancock, Tracey Armstrong, Denis Monteiro, Julie‑Anne Dietz, Paul Mildner, Brad Tamer, Tammy Werner, Stuart Wise, Paula Collins, Eric Velvick, Kazuko Nakabun, Anthony Olsen, Melissa Murphy, Ross Stanley, Arifah Hastie.

Have a lovely weekend everybody.
