Get ready for some authentic old-time magic at Mountaingrass 2026 in Bright, VIC (November 13–15, 2026)!
We are thrilled to feature the one and only John Boothroyd (VIC)! A true pillar of the Melbourne acoustic scene since the folk revival of the late 1960s, John has spent decades keeping the rich spirit of old-time music alive as both a master performer and a teacher.
Armed with his clawhammer banjo and guitar, John brings a deeply-loved, varied repertoire to the stage, paired with the kinds of engaging, storytelling song introductions that audiences always adore. Over the years, his journey has taken him from local string bands to stages across England and the USA, drawing deep inspiration from legends like Clarence "Tom" Ashley, The New Lost City Ramblers, The Carter Family, and the Delmore Brothers.
If you love his classic solo album "Still Rollin' On"—which blends timeless traditional tunes with his own original banjo and guitar instrumentals—you are in for a real treat.
At this year's festival, John will be leading and performing in a special old-time acoustic concert!
Come experience the warmth, skill, and history of a true folk legend. See you in the High Country! 🌿
