"A blend of classic Alice in Wonderland elements with First Nations mythology, Washpool is funny, smart..." This is how the Saturday Age described the new novel Washpool by Wuilli Wuilli author Lisa Fuller. We are thrilled to be welcoming Lisa to Write Around the Murray Schools Program this year where she will be running writing workshops on how students can imbue meaning into place and character.

Lisa is one of 14 authors and illustrators who will be in Albury Wodonga from 9 to 11 September running author talks and drawing and writing workshops for students of all year levels from Preschool to Year 12. The entire program is FREE for schools within 150 kilometres of Albury and homeschoolers are most welcome.

To book your class into Lisa's brilliant sessions or to explore all our offerings, go to our website:

The best stories are never finished in the first draft. They require rewriting, editing and refinement to get them just perfect.

That's what author Jo Dabrowski will be teaching students in her Write Around the Murray Schools Program workshops. Designed for students in 5 to 8, these Second Drafts workshops will show kids how to make their writing even better.

Jo will be in Albury as part of the WAM Schools Program which runs 9 to 11 September at venues across Albury Wodonga. The entire program is FREE but spots are filling fast, so make sure you head to our website to make your bookings.

Every year Write Around the Murray delivers over 30 FREE storytelling programs for 2,300 students in the greater Albury Wodonga area. Our events are so popular, we open bookings months in advance (bookings are open RIGHT NOW with some author sessions already FULLY BOOKED).

Bookings are now open for our Write Around the Murray Schools Program (9 to 11 September) and we are so happy to bring our community another brilliant suite of literary events for school students.

If you just can't wait until September, you should definitely investigate IGNITE, the brilliant day-long storytelling program being run by our partners across the border at Hyphen Wodonga Library Gallery on Tuesday 26 May. Students aged 12 to 18 can choose to attend sessions on fiction, comics, film making or poetry being run by Ange Crawford, Helena Fox, Kaede Miyamura, Megan Riedl, Shivaun Plozza and Dean Rankine.
