The Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 1982 to host the first sanctioned state games of the Commonwealth. It operates with the mission of promoting personal development, education, physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship to Massachusetts citizens of all ages and abilities. The Foundation is recognized nationwide for holding high-quality, Olympic-style events through the Bay State Summer and Winter Games, as well as educational programs including the High School Ambassador Program and Future Leaders Scholarship. With more than 6,000 athletes from 300 cities and towns directly participating in its programs each year, the Foundation is an integral part of the lives of citizens across the Commonwealth. 👟 Run the 2027 Boston Marathon with the Bay State Games!

Bay State Games is excited to announce that we have been accepted as an official member of the 2027 Bank of America Boston Marathon Official Charity Program! 💙💛

We are now accepting applications from individuals interested in joining our team and achieving their goal of running the 131st Boston Marathon Presented by Bank of America on behalf of the Bay State Games.

Congratulations to longtime Bay State Games Track & Field official Justin Kuo for his recent induction in the USA Track & Field National Officials Hall of Fame. The 2026 Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday evening, December 4, 2026, at the USATF Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon. Justin becomes only the second official from Massachusetts to ever receive this award.



Justin has served several high-level positions at prestigious events including the Boston Marathon and the USA Track & Field National Championships. He also serves on the Board of Governors of USA Track & Field New England. He has volunteered his time to officiate at the Bay State Games Track & Field competition for decades.

Bob Gidari (Goffstown NH) and Justin Kuo (Brookline MA) were named as two of only five 2026 inductees to the USATF National Officials Hall of Fame. Both are also current members of the USATF New England Board of Governors.

While most Halls of Fame require being retired from an area of involvement, officials are recognized for career long achievements (and may still be officiating for many more years). Criteria for nomination include, among other activities,
- serving as a competition official for a minimum of 20 years and working at multiple levels of competition from youth through international
- exhibiting leadership and acting as a mentor to younger officials. and
- having been selected as a head official, coordinator, or administrator at national or international events
You'll see them year around at track & field, road, and cross country events at all levels throughout the year in the association.

They join New England association officials Ken Caouette, Laurie Boemker, and Pat Lavelle in the USATF Officials Hall of Fame.
Formal induction will be held at the USATF Annual Meeting in December.
