In May, 2026 Bay State Games Summer Intern Colin Roberts (UMass Class of 2027) was awarded the Kristian J. Rose Memorial Scholarship during the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management Awards Banquet at UMass Amherst.

Kristian Rose served as a Bay State Games Operations Intern in the summer of 2011 before he was tragically killed in an automobile accident. A native of New Bedford, Kristian was a Sport Management student at UMass Amherst, a Dean's List student, a passionate volunteer, and a former Bay State Summer Games athlete who competed in lacrosse. In 2012, the Bay State Games and UMass Amherst established the Kristian Rose Memorial Scholarship to honor his memory and legacy.

Each year since Kristian's passing, his family has joined us at the McCormack Awards Banquet as we recognize a deserving Sport Management student who demonstrates a commitment to academics, community service, and the sports industry. We are proud to continue honoring Kristian's life and keeping his memory alive through this scholarship.

Congratulations to Colin on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you to the Rose family for helping us celebrate Kristian's lasting impact on the Bay State Games and UMass communities. 💙💛
