It's almost time for Hilloween on Capitol Hill, and this year PrideFest is producing it!

A few final thoughts as you prepare the kiddos for a fun Halloween day tomorrow:
- Trick or Treat in Pike/Pine 11am-1pm (start at Chophouse row)
- Hilloween Carnival is 1-4pm at the AIDS Memorial Pathway Plaza (put Glo's Diner into your maps app to find it quickly)
- A Costume Parade with the Chaotic Noise Band will go down Broadway around 4pm from the Carnival - Trick or Treat on Broadway 4-6pm
- After 6pm, head off to your favorite Trick or Treat area (like 17th and Aloha) to complete the day!

Remember--all activities tomorrow are free. There'll be spooky storytime, a magician, a costume contest (for kids and pets), games, face painting, and Halloween vendors at the carnival. If you want to grab a bite, a delicious hot dog vendor will be on site too.

Happy Marsha P Johnson Day!

Today we celebrate the birth of Marsha P. Johnson and honor her legacy! 💖

Marsha P. Johnson was a Black transgender woman and activist and was a central figure in the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, which ignited the LGBTQ rights movement. Born in 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Johnson moved to New York City’s Greenwich Village at age 17, where she found community among other LGBTQ individuals. Known for her vibrant personality, distinctive flower crowns, and colorful sense of style, Johnson became a beloved figure within the LGBTQ community and an enduring symbol of resistance against injustice.

Along with Sylvia Rivera, a Latina transgender activist, Johnson co-founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) in 1970, an organization dedicated to providing housing and support for homeless LGBTQ youth. STAR became one of the first LGBTQ organizations in the U.S. to focus specifically on transgender issues. It pioneered a legacy of advocacy for transgender and gender-nonconforming people who were often overlooked by mainstream gay rights organizations.

We are devastated by the news of yesterday’s tragedy at Seattle Center. Our hearts break for the families and loved ones of the victims, and for the city of Seattle. We are holding them and all those affected by this incident of violence in our thoughts and hearts right now. No one should have to fear going to a public event, full stop.
