The Virtual Rodeo Qualifier (VRQ) is a points-based qualification system that lets athletes earn points at approximately 15,000 eligible PRCA, UPRA, and IPRA rodeos throughout the qualification window.

The TOP 20 competitors on the Kimes Ranch VRQ Leaderboard will earn their spot in the MDB Semi-Finals... with no additional entry fee for VRQ qualifiers.

They're roping on a beach in two weeks, and whoever wins it is going straight to the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway Finals.
Not the Semi-Finals. The Finals.

Avila Beach, California, September 24, on a broadcast, $30,000 guaranteed. The champion out of that beach final is in the 10-round Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway Finals at WestWorld in November. More than $1 million in the purse, $25,000 to win a round, $175,000 in the average, and no entry fee once she's there.

Twenty ropers make that Finals. Three of them are qualifier champions, and the Coastal Qualifier Series champion is one of the three. The other 17 have to come through the Scottsdale Semi-Finals to get there.
Here's how a person gets in the running. The Coastal Qualifier ropes Wednesday, September 23, at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Two head and a short go, $500 to enter, no membership required. Top 20 advance to the beach the next afternoon, and all 20 are into the Scottsdale Semi-Finals no matter how the beach goes.

So one Wednesday in California puts a roper in the Semi-Finals. Winning Thursday on the sand skips them entirely.

The beach final starts with all 20 competitors, then cuts the field to eight for a one-head final round: top two from Round 1, top two from Round 2 and top four from the aggregate. Nothing carries over.
