On Sun, Oct 25 at 3pm at Union College, alongside works of Schumann and Haydn, the Quatuor Modigliani return to CRC with a new work by Czech composer Kryštof Mařatka: AMEDEA—visage de jeune fille.
Commissioned for the finals of the Bordeaux Competition (of which the Modigliani are artistic directors), the piece draws inspiration from a painting by Amedeo Modigliani whose artistic principles match Mařatka’s approach to music—combining universal archaic techniques with contemporary processes, mixing past and present.
