Horology Republic exists because someone once said: “Sometimes, you gotta create what you want to be a part of,” and we took that personally. Focused on the collector, their stories, and building a community, we bring it back to the individuals in the avocation.

If you've been following what we're building and wondering what the room actually looks like — April 25 is your opportunity.

Horology Republic gathers at The Inn on Broadway. 7 to 9 PM. $50 gets you in — and that includes a complimentary spirits tasting poured by the Inn's team.

The first event gathered collectors from across the region with years in the avocation and knowledge to share freely. Pieces most have only read about were there for the wristies and the conversations. Connections made only here at events like this. That's the room you're walking into.

Last night we got to spend time with Andy ( ) and Dave ( ) — and it was exactly what this hobby is supposed to feel like. No agenda, just passionate collectors in a room, talking about the things we love.

NOKIA. 925 STERLING SILVER. 500 MADE. 🔍

Somewhere out there are 500 of these, and almost nobody in the watch world knows they exist.

This is a Nokia “Connecting People” limited edition wristwatch — piece 050/500, confirmed by the engraving. 925 sterling silver case, hallmark stamped. Pilot-style black dial. Automatic movement, we think?

That slogan, for Nokia, was used between 1997 and 2004, so it must have been created sometime within that window. When? Who knows.

We’ve searched a whole lot of the internet. Auction records, collector forums, sold listings. This watch has almost no digital footprint — it was almost certainly a corporate commission, never sold at retail, never catalogued. And yet, here it is: A flieger dial, sterling silver case, Nokia right there on the dial.

Where are the other 499? Does anyone have a bead on what this is?

Simon, from our group, showed up with an absolute CLASSIC F-91W. If you aren’t in the know, it looks like just another quartz watch that is easily overlooked. But if you know, these are cult status among many in the watch game.

Folks that have a regular relationship with brands like Lange or Jacob & Co love these Casios, and they’re not shy to say so. They’ve graced the wrists of folks during war, during board meetings, and during scientific breakthroughs. Plus, you can travel with-free with one of you are headed somewhere sketchy.

Why is it legendary? Well, that’s best answered by talking to owners. It’s different for everyone. Still, it’s always fun to see one in the wild and Simon consistently brings fun pieces to our group with a neat story.
