Janet Daughtry has been a part of the Village for more than 20 years, weaving and selling Appalachian-style Baskets to fairgoers with her husband, Scott Daughtry.

“People are delighted to see a local vendor,” said Daughtry. Before she was a full-time basket weaver, she was a kindergarten teacher for 31 years. Learn more about her in the blog post below and be sure to visit her in the Village of Yesteryear this year at the fair, taking place Oct. 15-25th!

Mark your calendars for Sensory Day, presented by Bandwidth Inc., at the 2026 N.C. State Fair, taking place on Sunday, Oct. 18th! 💙🎉

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., all vendors and booths will operate without music, as well as rides and games that begin at 10 a.m. Music stages will play acoustic sets only with light amplification and the public address system will only be used for lost visitor announcements.

Plan to join us for a fun day of fair fun, featuring crafts, on-the-spot competitions, the Bandwidth Chill Out Zone and more!
