It is with a heavy heart that we announce that a dedicated member of our HamCation Committee has become a silent key.
Richard “Rick” Peron II, KM4KQQ, became a Silent Key on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the age of 69.
Rick was first licensed as an amateur radio operator in 2015 and quickly became an active and dedicated member of the amateur radio community. He joined OARC and went on to serve as Membership Chairman, welcoming and supporting fellow operators with commitment and care.
Rick also served OCARES as AEC-Admin and contributed to HamCation as Volunteer Coordinator. Through these roles, he gave generously of his time and talents, helping strengthen the organizations and events that bring amateur radio operators together.
Rick is survived by his sister, Stormy, and his niece, Elizabeth.
At this time, it is unknown whether there will be a service. When details become available, we will pass them on to you.
Please keep Rick’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
He will be remembered for his service, dedication, and fellowship within the amateur radio community. Rick’s voice may be silent, but his contributions and friendships will continue to be appreciated by those who knew and worked alongside him.
