The tour bus is packed up and ready to go! Three of the Oasis Comedy Theatre’s improv teams are hitting the road. They’ll be rolling down the Thruway on Saturday, November 7th, and heading all the way to…UTICA! (Okay…so, it’s only two exits away. But, that’s…ummm…something.)

The Players Theatre of Utica have cordially invited us to present an evening of live improv comedy at their venue. And we’re excited to be working with these folks!

Performing will be two of our “short-form” improv teams: MOLEHEAD and The Pitchfork Incident…doing game-style improv comedy in the manner of the hit TV show, Whose Line Is It, Anyway. And, rounding out the evening, will be SkittleFit…the longest running improv team in Central New York! They’ll be doing their signature form they call The Sammich (a completely improvised 5 act play.)

The show will be at The Players Theatre, 1108 State Street, Utica, on Saturday, November 7th. Doors open at 6:30pm. Seating begins at 7:00pm. Show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are only $15.

Kevin McDonald, comedy legend and founding member of the groundbreaking sketch comedy troupe, “The Kids In The Hall,” is coming to The Oasis Comedy Theatre.

Kevin will be doing his acclaimed stand-up and story-telling…sharing tales of The Kids In The Hall. Also, Kevin will perform improv comedy with select members of Oasis Comedy Theatre’s improv teams. The evening will conclude with an audience Q&A.

Doors open at 7:00pm…Show starts at 8:00pm. Tickets are $30 (plus service fee) and are available for purchase online at: https://www.oasiscomedytheatre.com/shows-and-events

One of Kevin’s most popular workshops is “One Line Premise.”

If you do improv, write sketch, or perform stand-up…the One Line Premise workshop will help you expand your skills. Each student is asked to come to the workshop with a one line premise. For example: “What if a guy was $10 short of being a millionaire.”

Kevin will guide the group to take each students premise and hone it into a more complete comedy piece. A new feature of the workshop is that, at the conclusion, Kevin will have each student take their ideas home and finish polishing up their work. They can then email their work to Kevin, who will evaluate their sketch and return it with his personal notes.

Kevin will probably also regale you with more stories about the Kids In The Hall throughout the day. He hopes you enjoy them (or, at least pretend.)

No prior experience is necessary. Just bring something to write with (and on)…and a desire to learn and have fun!

The workshop runs from 12:00pm until 4:00pm, on Sunday, September 27th. The cost of the workshop is $150 (plus service fee.) All payments must be received by the final deadline, in order to be considered registered for this course. Final deadline for registration is Friday, September 25th.
