FINAL WEEKEND OF HIT SHOW 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE AT NTC! JUST THREE MORE SHOWS! YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IT!

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box. A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius.

Directed by Larry Williams & choreographed by Marilyn Izdebski with Musical Direction by Christopher Hewitt, Spelling Bee runs September 17-October 11, 2026.

FINAL WEEKEND OF HIT SHOW 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE AT NTC! YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IT!

“NTC's production, deftly directed by Larry Williams, shines. Led by Marin theater stalwarts Daniella Innocenti-Beem and Pat Barr as the Bee moderators, Williams entices energetic, touching, hilarious, and endearingly brilliant performances from his entire ensemble, notably Nicole Stanley as Olive, NTC regular Dominic Canty as William, Carly Harrington as Logainne, Marly Ostrom as Coneybear (and Dad), Emily Rutledge as Marcy, Paul Hogarth as Chip (and Jesus) and Nicholas Augusta as Mitch (and two dads). The music is provided by a wonderful quintet conducted by Christopher Hewitt, Izdebski choreographed brilliantly and lit the show, and the costumes were designed by Christina Stephan and Cheryl Evans.”
—Mitchell with Mitchell Field San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle

Directed by Larry Williams & choreographed by Marilyn Izdebski with Musical Direction by Christopher Hewitt, Spelling Bee runs September 17-October 11, 2026.

THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE AT NTC IS A HIT!!!

“Compellingly and wildly directed by Larry Williams, “Spelling Bee” is a quick-moving exercise in absurd hilarity, backed by a great band (music direction by Christopher Hewitt), with lots of goofy action and stunning choreography by Novato Theater Company stalwart Marilyn Izdebski.”—Barry Willis, Marin IJ

“There’s a lot to like in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The show is paced well and moves quickly with constant laughter.”—Cari Lynn Pace, North Bay Stage & Screen

The show’s phenomenal, on any level anyone might judge.—Patrick Thomas, Talkin’ Broadway.
