We’re excited to announce that we’re adding Aiden Robinson to THE DAGUM PUSH ENGINE OPS CADRE. We’re blessed to have Aiden’s influence around the team and the firefighters attending the classes. Aiden is already a young leader in the fire service. It will be fun to watch him grow in time.

What started as an idea on a piece of plywood for talking points and demonstration of victim drags has grown into what is known as The Stick.

We created The Stick as a training aid in order to show the toxic and thermal dangers to the unprotected airway during victim removal operations. Visual color coding creates training for muscle memory and unconscious action during times of stress.

Green is good to go, where temperatures are lowest and Oxygen levels are highest. (1 Foot) Yellow is caution and is a warning to spend minimal time at this level, a reminder to get lower. (3 feet) Red is deadly airway height, where temperatures to the unprotected airway are irreversible and the toxicity of the air is incapacitating. (5 feet)

The colors are matched with post flashover temperatures and oxygen displacement numbers that are directly from ulfsri end of hallway post bedroom flashover victim location from the search and rescue study averages.

Over time we have added more information and more detail to the stick.

Lt. Huerta dedicated his life to serving others with courage, honor, and selflessness. His commitment to protecting his community will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who wear the uniform.

Prayers for the Troncoso family and everyone involved
