Okay, now let’s talk FOOD. 🥨🇩🇪

We didn’t want Oktoberfest food to mean a hot dog with a German name slapped on it. 😂 We wanted the menu to feel like Oktoberfest...hearty, traditional German recipes, warm sides, good sausages, and the kind of food you actually want on an October afternoon.

So this year you’ll find schnitzel with hunter sauce, half Hendl (roast chicken), knackwurst, bratwurst, warm German potato salad, braised red cabbage, sauerkraut, warm rye bread and, of course, big soft Bretzels. 🥨

We even reworked the kids meal so they can choose a sliced bratwurst, schnitzel or chicken instead of having an entirely separate “kid food” menu.

Pair it with one of the German b**rs we announced last week, grab a table in the historic lodge or head out under the big white tent, and you’ve got a pretty good Sunday afternoon. 🍺🍂

And there’s a lot more than food happening — live polka music, c***r pressing with free fresh c***r samples, the StoryWalk around the pond, games, gardens, family activities and more still to be announced.

🍻 The b**r list is officially set for Oktoberfest at The Mile Away!

We’re bringing back Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 4th from 12:30–5:00 PM, and this year we’ve been working to make it feel like the best parts of the old Mile Away Oktoberfest mixed with a really good family fall festival.

There will be German food, a live polka band, the gardens and patio, c***r pressing with free fresh c***r samples, the Story Walk around the pond, and more games and activities for both kids and adults. If you haven’t been to The Mile Away before, this is a pretty fun day to see the property and MAPS, 501c3 Charter School! All proceeds benefit the school!

And for the b**r crowd, we wanted the lineup to feel like Oktoberfest.

On DRAFT we’ll have:

Along with a couple of fun canned options, including 1911 C***r Donut and an Athletic Oktoberfest non-alcoholic b**r.

For the non-b**r drinkers, we have a variety of w**e and a full bar with a delicious authentic German menu in the works. Food and drinks are purchased separately from admission.

Oktoberfest is also a fundraiser benefiting MAPS, which will be making The Mile Away its future home. So come have a b**r, eat delicious German food, walk the gardens, bring the kids, listen to some polka, play some yard games, and enjoy a fall afternoon with us before construction begins later this year.

PLAY FOR A PURPOSE

What if a night out could also help build a school?

Mile Away Events is excited to support Dream AcadeME, a local nonprofit that has been selected for 10 charitable gaming dates at Beach Club Casino in Hampton, and the charitable revenue we receive from those days will help support building expenses for MAPS.

For our community, this is about so much more than a building for events, its primary purpose is for a school! It is about creating the kind of school we have imagined for our children for years. A place filled with warmth and beauty. A place where nature, history, art, science, creativity, and curiosity live side by side. A place where children can gather around a table, ask big questions, work with their hands, read beside the fire, grow plants, create, investigate, and feel that their school truly belongs to them. One of the images below as an AI generated image of the Mile Away with our vision of it as a classroom to give everyone a feel for what we have been imagining!

If you are planning a visit to Hampton Beach, we would love for you to Play for a Purpose by visiting Beach Club Casino during one of Dream AcadeME’s designated charitable gaming days. A portion of the gaming revenue from those dates will benefit Dream AcadeME and help us continue the work of bringing MAPS to life.
