We invite the Hong Kong community and friends to support a special screening of Children in the Fire, a powerful documentary from Oscar-nominated director Evgeny Afineevsky (Winter on Fire).

The film tells the stories of Ukrainian children whose lives have been transformed by war, displacement, and loss. Through their experiences, we witness extraordinary resilience, courage, and hope in the face of adversity.

As Hongkongers, many of us understand the importance of preserving memory, protecting future generations, and supporting communities confronting difficult times. Community screenings like this help create space for understanding, dialogue, and solidarity.

《十年》、《時代革命》和《幻愛》導演周冠威最新作品《自殺通告》（Deadline）入圍美國西雅圖國際電影節，並將於本週五（5/8）及週日（5/10）在當地放映兩場，作為北美首映。

住在西雅圖和溫哥華附近的朋友真的很幸運，將有機會成為首批在北美大銀幕觀看這部香港導演禁映作品的觀眾。

🎬 Seattle International Film Festival | Hong Kong Cinema Spotlight

The latest work by Kiwi Chow, director of Ten Years, Revolution of Our Times, and Beyond the Dream, Deadline, has been selected for the Seattle International Film Festival and will have two screenings this Friday (5/8) and Sunday (5/10) as its North American premiere.

Audiences in Seattle and Vancouver are truly lucky to be among the first in North America to see this banned work by a Hong Kong director on the big screen.

That grandfather was Y Vân — the legendary composer whose songs helped define Vietnam’s rock ’n’ roll generation. But after political change reshaped the country, his music was pushed underground and scattered overseas. In this vibrant and moving documentary, Khoa returns to Vietnam to trace those lost sounds, uncover family history, and rediscover how music can connect memory, identity, and generations.

🎬 從電影認識伊朗 / Discover Iran Through Cinema

最近，不少人都在關注伊朗的局勢與戰事。除了新聞報導，也許電影能讓我們用另一種方式，去理解這個地方、這裡的人，以及戰火之中依然存在的情感與人性。

這個星期日，聖地牙哥將放映伊朗電影經典《Bashu, the Little Stranger》。這部作品來自 1980 年代，並在 1999 年由 150 位影評人投票選為最佳伊朗電影，至今仍被視為伊朗電影史上的重要之作。

故事發生在兩伊戰爭期間，一名因戰爭流離失所的小男孩，來到伊朗北部一個陌生的地方，並被一位母親收留。語言不同、文化不同，但在動盪與創傷之中，人與人之間仍然可以建立理解、信任與愛。這是一部溫柔卻深刻、樸實卻極具力量的作品。

This Sunday in San Diego, don’t miss Bashu, the Little Stranger, a landmark classic of Iranian cinema from the 1980s. In 1999, it was voted the best Iranian film by a poll of 150 critics, and it remains one of the most celebrated films in Iran’s cinematic history.

Set during the Iran-Iraq War, the film follows a young boy displaced by war who is taken in by a mother in an unfamiliar region of Iran. Through difference, hardship, and survival, the film becomes a moving portrait of empathy, resilience, and human connection.
