A “race” to the finish! Progressing nicely!

My 85 year old dad seems to move faster as he ages. I think he knows “time” does not wait for anyone. Keep moving. Keep building. 💯

My 85 year-old Dad is working on the 1931 Ford race car. He has completely taken it apart and is ready to begin rebuilding… All in less than one week. The energizer bunny has nothing on him! 😂💯

Now that the paint work on my 1950 Ford is finished and the truck has been sent off for interior work and final assembly, it’s time to shift gears back to the 1931 Ford race car project.

Yesterday, my 85-year-old dad got the body lifted off the frame and officially began tearing into the next chapter of this rebuild. In this video, Dad talks a little about what’s already been done, what the plans are moving forward, and shares some of his admiration of Henry Ford himself.

Like many old-school builders, he respects what Henry Ford did for the automobile industry… while also reminding us that some of these old Fords definitely weren’t designed to come apart easily 95 years later.

Follow along as this 1931 Ford race car begins its journey back to life.

Now that the 1950 Ford truck has been painted and all the parts and pieces have been carefully wrapped and loaded into the trailer to head off for reassembly and interior work… it’s time for my 85-year-old dad to shift gears.

Next up: the rebuild of a 1931 Ford race car for his friend Roberto down in Florida. Dad usually doesn’t take on builds for other people, but this one sounded like a fun challenge — so he jumped right in.

Knowing him, it won’t take long before this old race car starts coming back to life. Follow along for the rebuild journey and… Enjoy The Ride!

“My 85-year-old dad isn’t slowing down…
He’s still walking through a barn full of classic cars he rebuilt himself — and a parts room packed with old car parts, pieces, and mystery items many people today would never recognize.

So… let’s put him to the test!

Can he still identify every old-school car part and explain what it was used for?

Some of these parts helped build hot rods, race cars, and everyday drivers long before modern technology took over. This might just turn into a history lesson from the good old days.

While I was away this past weekend at my grandson’s travel baseball game, Dad stayed back at the barn doing what he loves... He kept right on buffing the doors for my 1950 Ford F1 and also continued tearing apart the 1931 Ford race car he’ll be rebuilding completely from the ground up. Working simultaneously.

At 85 years old, he’s still out there every day building, creating, and doing what he was born to do. Follow along with us — there’s a lot more to come on both of these builds!

Day 2 of the 1931 Race Car rebuild. My 85 year-old dad is getting it all figured out. He always has a plan… And always follows through.
