Dad’s 1931 Ford Race Car is moving right along!

If you’ve been following along, you know my 85-year-old Dad, Mike, has come a LONG way since he started this rebuild back in June!

We spent the beginning of the summer painting my 1950 Ford truck, which is now in the upholstery stages. Unfortunately, the truck won’t make it to Ducktail Run this year… but you can bet it will be there next year! ❤️

Dad, however, has other plans! He’s taking this 1931 race car to Ducktail Run exactly as it is — in its current “not quite finished yet” condition. And honestly, I think that makes it even more fun! You’ll get to see the car right where it is in the build process.

We are now DEEP into preparations for the 33rd year of Ducktail Run, and this is one spectacular event you definitely don’t want to miss!

Bring a car: 1972 and older
(Unless it’s chopped, channeled, sectioned or tubbed!)

BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE DUCKTAIL RUN!

Throughout September, I’m taking you behind the scenes of the Ducktail Run Rod & Custom Car Show to show you some of the work that happens before the cars ever arrive!

Today, we’re setting up and testing the sound system throughout Gas City Park. We maintain, repair and replace the equipment every year so the music and announcements can be heard throughout the park.

This is just ONE of the many things it takes to put on the Ducktail Run!

Today, we gathered together much of our Ducktail Run team to put together the goodie bags for registration!

Some of these amazing people have been part of Ducktail Run for 33 years! Others have been here for 20+ years. That’s a whole lot of dedication, memories, and friendships!

This team works hard behind the scenes, and every single one of them looks forward to seeing YOU at Ducktail Run in the Gas City Park! September 24-27, 2026.

We’re getting closer, and we can’t wait to see everyone! Safe travels!

JD Duck is ready to welcome you to the Ducktail Run! 😎

He’ll be hanging out at the main entrance, so be sure to stop by and get your picture with our giant duck!

If you have questions, sending them through messenger is the quickest way to receive a response. As the show gets closer, the team is busy preparing for the best car show in the Midwest!

Craft and food vendors spots are full.

Pre-registration is over. You can register your 1972 or older vehicle during the show by going to the Gas City Fire & Rescue Station, 5050 East 500 South, Gas City from 6am-7pm, Wednesday-Saturday. Sunday from 8am-10am.

Please note the time change for Saturday's band, Black Water Revival - a Tribute to the Doobie Brothers. The band plays from 6pm-8pm to allow you to also attend the flamethrowing contest at dusk!

The t-shirt tent opens at 8am on Wednesday, September 23. We will have our official event shirt, featuring the Best of Show car from 2025, pin strip crews/t-shirts/long sleeves, zip & pullover hoodies, jackets, our patriotic t-shirt, and hats! Plus, a small selection of youth shirts.
