This is a wonderful story!
🏅 Touch of Class: A Mare Like No Other 🐎✨
She was small. She was hot. She was unstoppable.
At the 1984 Olympics, Touch of Class made history as the first horse to jump double-clear rounds, helping the U.S. win its first-ever team gold in show jumping. Of 91 jumps, she cleared 90 clean. 🇺🇸
She wasn’t expensive. She failed a vet check. She didn’t “look” the part.
But she had heart, and Joe Fargis had vision.
Together, they beat the odds.
🏆 Olympic Gold
🏆 Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year (first non-human!)
🏆 Hall of Fame
Legend Bill Steinkraus said it best:
“She has class all the way down to her hoofprints.”
Kitty, as she was known in the barn, went from racetrack reject to world-beater. And she proved one thing above all:
🔥 The right horse doesn’t need to be perfect.
They just need someone who believes in them.
