Sometimes we try to measure the results of what God has instructed us to do based on our own expectations or a perceived goal. We try to determine if it worked, or was successful based on what we can see.

Was it good enough? Did it reach enough people? Did it turn out as expected?

But God doesn't measure outcomes in the way we do. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9) He simply asks us to be obedient and take the next step trusting Him.

What feels small or fails to meet our expectations is made perfect in Him. 1 Corinthians 3:6–7 "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase."

Success in God’s calling is not about visible results. It is about obedience and faith. We should step out faithfully into whatever He placed in our hands, and trust Him with what comes from it.

Choose your words with care, because words carry weight. They can build up or tear down, calm a situation or stir it up, bring healing or leave hurt behind.

Scripture reminds us to be “quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger” and to speak only what is helpful for building others up. That does not mean we never speak truth, but it does mean we speak truth with love, patience, gentleness, and purpose.

Before we speak, it is worth asking: Is this helpful? Is it kind? Is it true? Is this the right time and tone? Sometimes the wisest thing we can do is pause, listen, pray, and let God guide our response.

May our words reflect the heart of Christ, bringing encouragement, peace, truth, and grace to those around us.

"Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger" (James 1:19).

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs" (Ephesians 4:29).

"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ" (Ephesians 4:15).

"A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1).

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute" (Proverbs 31:8)

You don't need to see the whole road. Just the next step. God's Word is enough light for where you are right now. 🕯️

He is Alive!

When the Lord stirs me awake in the middle of the night, I no longer treat it as a small interruption. I have come to see it as a tender summons.

There is something holy about those hidden hours. The world grows hushed, distractions fall away, and my soul seems to breathe a little deeper. In that silence, when no other voices are pressing in, I sense a gentle nearness calling me closer.

In those moments, I am reminded that God is not waiting for flawless prayers or carefully chosen words. He is simply inviting me to be with Him. I can come without performance, without polish, just as I am—wearied, vulnerable, uncertain, and real. And somehow, in His presence, that is more than enough. He does not meet me with pressure, but with rest.

Sometimes a person rises in my thoughts, or a burden settles on my heart that I cannot fully explain. I have learned not to dismiss it. I pray, even without understanding, trusting that God sees what I cannot. What feels small to me may be part of a work far greater than I know.

At other times, it is my own heart He is drawing out of hiding. The concerns I buried beneath the noise of the day begin to surface in the stillness, and there He reminds me, so gently, that I was never meant to carry them by myself. What felt heavy before begins to loosen in the quiet light of His presence.

I am not always given immediate answers in those hours, but I am given something deeper. I am given communion with Him. And that changes the weight of everything.

So when sleep breaks and silence fills the room, I try not to brush it aside. I become still. I listen. I whisper my prayers into the dark. For even the pause has purpose, and peace often waits in the places we would have hurried past.

Some of the sweetest meetings with God are unseen by anyone else. They are born in the midnight hush, while the earth sleeps, and His presence feels close enough to touch.
