On Crowdfunding Corner we tell you about the crowdfunding campaigns that have caught our eye. This Monday were talking about Dystopian Mythos! A game that looks like it was ripped right off the side of a Van in the 70's-80's and dropped onto the page.

What happens when you take classic high fantasy, throw it into a post-apocalyptic Europe, and let the Fae folk take over?

Well simply put, things get weird. Thats ok though because here at CONington we live for weird. Thats why we love all of you.

Imagine a fantasy world shaped by the ruins of civilization, where the Fae folk of legend hold power and the familiar rules of the world have gone right out the window. If you're a fan of unconventional fantasy settings, folklore, and exploring worlds that aren't just another Tolkien-inspired kingdom, this one deserves a look!

Check it out, explore the campaign, and consider supporting an independent creator bringing something different to the tabletop. Because the world doesn't need another tavern full of elves. Well... unless those elves are running a post-apocalyptic Fae dictatorship.

Faces of Fandom: Josh Hughes!
CONington LEGEND!

Josh has been telling stories at the table since college, back when he covered an entire apartment wall with hand-drawn maps that his group kept expanding. He's run games at the library, kept the dice rolling online through COVID, and never stopped.

Now he proofs for Pear Tree Studios, builds Foundry modules for Fainting Goat Games, and is playtesting Void Wardens with his crew. No plot hole or inconsistency survives Josh.

Before CONington 2026 was even a reality, Josh was our biggest supporter and cheerleader, and he still is. He's not only a CONington legend, he's a great friend we found through a shared hobby. We're so lucky to have him at our tables!

LOCAL LEGEND SPOTLIGHT: Dice on Draft

Covington, you have a board game bar, and it's a good one.

Dice on Draft, at 20 E 5th St, has more than 250 games you can play for free, a private tabletop RPG room, and a bar full of cocktails named after board games. Order a Don't Explode if you're a Quacks fan, or a Mars Reviver if you've ever lost a whole weekend to Terraforming Mars. Almost all of their signature drinks can be made non-alcoholic, so you can join the fun whether you drink or not.

They host events almost every day, from Magic Mondays to D&D nights, but there's always room to drop in, grab a game off the shelf, and stay way past "just one more round."

STOP EVERYTHING, Botany fans! This is the game of my dreams and I cannot stop talking about it!

BOARD GAME SPOTLIGHT: Botany: Floral Dragons

Dux Somnium Games and Hit Point Press took two of my all-time favorites, Botany and Floral Dragons, and combined them into one game. Floral! Dragons! It's like they read my mind. You explore the world, befriend legendary floral dragons, and nest them in your own garden estate. It plays 1 to 5 players.

You build a tile garden where the dragons you place next to each other earn you bonuses, and I could spend hours deciding who lives next to whom. You can warp across the map on dandelions, which might be the cutest fast travel ever made. You'll have to fight off creeping fungus, and if you're feeling petty, you can even gift a poisonous dragon to a friend. My friends have been warned.

I've got my copy, and it's already a favorite at my table.
