March 6, 1776 truly marks a transformative step when Prince Hall and fourteen other free black men were initiated into Lodge No. 441 of the Grand Lodge of Ireland, meeting in Boston. During the beginning of the revolutionary war no other black men had become freemasons in America. From this act grew what would become Prince Hall Freemasonry, an institution that has shaped leadership, community service, social progress, and the intellectual life of Black Americans for over 250 years.
While March 6 isn’t officially celebrated as Founders Day, it is a day worth remembering. Their initiation represented:
• A bold assertion of dignity and equality during a time when both were denied to African Americans.
• The foundation of a fraternal tradition that nurtured activists, educators, clergy, civil rights leaders, and community builders.
• A legacy of perseverance that continues to influence American history, culture, and civic life today.
We are also celebrating and wishing a Happy Birthday to Euclid's 1st Most Worshipful GrandMaster of The Most Worshipful Prince Grand Lodge of Ohio, Robert Jones ! Wishing you nothing but great health and blessing to a great man! Happy Birthday MW sir!
