ETA Creative Arts Foundation is proud to announce the return of for colored girls who have considered su***de / when the rainbow is enuf, written by Ntozake Shange, to its main stage, back by popular demand following an acclaimed run that celebrated the enduring power, resilience, and voices of Black women.

The production’s return comes as an exciting celebration of its continued impact and recognition, with six Black Theater Alliance Award nominations honoring the extraordinary talent and artistry behind this powerful theatrical experience.


The production—directed by Donn Carl Harper—was hailed as an "intuitive, embodied, and revealing production that outdoes everything I've seen before," praising the cast's deep reverence and alchemical ability to bring Ntozake Shange's characters to life.

Fun fact: Two of the playwrights, Paige and Ahkiyah, completed their play as students in our Winter/ Spring 2026 courses offered under eta’s Useni Eugene Perkins Playwriting Workshop, taught by Rueben D. Echoles.
