Black folks are at the center of this experience. Our music, our memories, our connections, our joy.
The journey is in the music. We go beyond the songs that everybody knows. Come prepared to hear something you haven't heard in awhile or discover something new (to you).
Our people been slow dancing for generations. We refuse to see the legacy of slow dragging lost.
This room was literally created for us to be soft with each other. Hold each other, sing 70's slow jams to each other, laugh together. Let's get back to that.
You don't need a date to enjoy yourself. Yes, folks show up with their boo but also solo or with the crew. However you pull up, there's a place for you.
So you might have to make the first move. It's not as hard as you think. Say hello, extend your hand and ask for a dance. Dassit. Make your ancestors proud. Ask a stranger to slow dance.
But just because you ask, doesn't mean the answer has to be yes. Let's be respectful in the delivery as well as the response.
We got the music, the mood and the opportunity. What y'all do with it is up to y'all. Don't come expecting a hookup or a love connection. Just expect a good time.
