Another clip from the road, during yesterday's U-turn Tour
It's been talked about for a couple years now, that 2027 has a very strong possibility of being the final call for NERR's big Fall cruising event.
With that thought in mind, we've been brainstorming a bunch of different ideas about how to keep NERR going in some way or form. The U-turn Tour is the first one we've tried out. This past weekend's experiment showed us that it could work. People commented that they liked the idea and now if we decide to keep these going, we just have to figure out how to incorporate the fundraising aspect of it
Speaking of fundraising, most people know that we do this to raise money for cancer research, with more than 100% of the money raised goes to our chosen charity, the Lymphoma Research Foundation, to help them in their mission of helping find treatments and a cure for this disease.
It's been said right from the get-go, that as long as we could do some good with our events, we would keep them going. to be honest here, for the last few years it's been a struggle trying to do that. We put a good solid year plus of organizing the Fall event just by itself, nevermind the Bay Invasion Tour & it just seems that it's a lot of work, with diminishing returns.
This year we are shooting for a very modest (at least we thought) $15,000.00-ish fundraising goal. If we hit that number, that would bring our all-time number to $200,000.00 raised for cancer research. We are usually close to $15k by late July, yet here we are mid-September and we are barely over $6500.00 and this year we started with over $2400.00 leftover from 2025 matching funds that came in to late to count for last year. That means we have really raised only $4100.00 this year and that even includes the money from our June event, which usually brings in almost $3000.00 alone
We're not trying to talk all doom & gloom here, but we don't want anyone saying that they were shocked by our decisions. We've had dozens (as a modest number) of people say they are "definitely joining NERR next year", for AT LEAST the last fifteen years now.
We've got next month's event, next June's Bay Invasion Tour and hopefully next Fall's event, before things are looking at a major change. If people want to join us, consider this your last call.
Nothing lasts forever, but 20 years is a pretty good run, by any automotive event's standards.
No matter what happens, we have memories that will last a lifetime and friendships that will never be broken.
