Sometimes it's the little things that show the biggest hearts!
Nathan Gonzales, an Event Maintenance worker with Beaumont Events, was working at the Theodore Johns Library when he found $20. Rather than pocketing it, Nathan went out of his way to find its rightful owner, asking several people until he found the person who had lost it.
One of those people was library patron Whitney Viator, who was so impressed by Nathan’s honesty that she offered him $20 of her own as a thank you. But rather than accept it, Nathan placed it in the library’s Blessing Box to help someone else in need.
Whitney was so touched by his kindness and integrity that she nominated him for the Heart of the City Award.
Today, Nathan was recognized by City Manager Chris Boone, Community Services Director Emily Wheeler and Division Manager Tommie Minkins, who presented him with a plaque and thanked him for his honesty and kindness and for demonstrating the true Heart of the City. 💙
