A somber yet powerful reminder of history 🥺
The “Last Bath” refers to the historic Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Site located in Assin Manso, Central Region, Ghana.
• The Last Bath: Captured Africans walked hundreds of miles in chains from northern Ghana to this site. Here, they were forced into the Donkor Nsuo (Slave River) for their final wash on African soil before being marched to coastal dungeons like Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle.
The First Bath of Return - FLOW members of the African diaspora now visit the site not for a final bath, but as a symbolic “first bath” of return and reconnection to their roots.
