Join us for some Argentine style and Texas hospitality at our annual Spring Tango Festival in Austin The Austin Spring Tango Festival started 20 years ago!

Every year our goal has been to make the festival the best it can be, and over the years we have learned a lot about what makes a festival successful for its attendees, maestros, DJs, and our community. We look back with pride on the continual improvement we believe we have achieved over this period. Our festival consistently sells out now, but we have no desire to increase its size. About 350 people is ideal for the size of festival we want to be providing. It allows us to afford to bring in the finest teachers from around the world, it allows us to retain a sense of coherence and community that is harder to maintain in larger events. And the feeling of the physical space has always been important to us. We want a space that is beautiful and is vibrant and peaceful at the same time. Our goal, then, is not to grow the size of our festival, our goal is to perfect the feeling and experience you have when you attend the Austin Spring Tango Festival. We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with all of you so stay tuned as we plan our next memorable festival, one not to be missed! Hailing from Ann Arbor, Edmond stands as a pillar in his local community as a teacher, a DJ, and co-organizer of the Ann Arbor Tango Marathon. He is a highly sought-after DJ, frequently receiving invitations both at local milongas and at prestigious festivals and marathons across North America. Edmond's journey into the world of DJing was first sparked by his love for tango music. Over time, he has cultivated a distinct style of rhythmic presence and lyrical intricacy, while his playful cortinas and exhilarating milongas will leave your feet (delightfully) sore. With keen attentiveness, Edmond orchestrates the perfect flow of energy—seamlessly weaving together the dancers' connection with every beat.

Presenting our next fabulous DJ, we’re excited to welcome DJ Chantal Forgues back to Austin Spring Tango Festival! 🎶🔥💞

Chantal, with background training in classical dance and music, has been active in the tango community for over 17 years, as an organizer, teacher, and DJ. She is presently an organizer and primary DJ for the Las Pebetas Milonga outside Miami and has also served as DJ at festivals and milongas in Turkey, SE Asia, and South Africa, as well as events in the USA. While focusing on Golden Age classics, her repertoire includes contemporary orchestras and modern tangos as well. She can rapidly assess the flow and direction of the milonga on a particular evening, and her motto is “play for the crowd, not for yourself.”

We’re thrilled to welcome DJ Milton El Gallo back to Austin Spring Tango Festival! 💫🌟

Milton “El Gallo” is not your typical DJ. He is a true professional and seasoned pro (of 16+ years!) who embodies exuberance, romanticism, mischievous charm, technical finesse, dynamic artistry, and the ability to weave magic into every event moment. He aims to forge deep connections with the audience, carefully curating songs, tandas, and cortinas to set the perfect mood. Expect a balanced assortment of musical flavors and anticipate a meticulously crafted musical journey that will inspire, keep you dancing, and leave you thoroughly satisfied. Based in Boston, he holds the esteemed title of resident DJ of the ever-popular Milonga Nueva and his music has resonated throughout the United States, Canada and a little bit into Europe as well!

We’re happy to welcome DJ Tommy Smith back to Austin Spring Tango Festival! 😍🎶

Tommy discovered tango in early 2012 in Boise, Idaho, which he still calls home. Immediately becoming obsessed, his love for exploring both the technical and emotional facets of tango has only grown. His skills span teaching, performing, and organizing, but DJing remains his top tango passion. You won’t find Tommy more animated or joyful than when he’s behind the laptop, grooving along with the dancers. His DJ philosophy is simple: play songs that slap, tandas that get dancers’ feet on the floor, and craft a journey that leads to deep connection. Passionate about both traditional and alternative tango music, Tommy draws on 13 years of experience DJing traditional milongas to create dynamic sets with varied energies, styles, rhythms, and emotions that dancers delight in connecting to. He also offers DJ workshops to educate and motivate aspiring DJs.

We’re delighted to welcome DJ Steve Correl for the first time DJing at the Austin Spring Tango Festival! ✨🎶

Steve plays music to highlight the beautiful variety of golden age tango, always with irresistible danceability foremost. A delightful flow inspiring those present in that unique ronda to dance their best, is his passion. Steve is a longtime dancer and tango traveler, including several months each year in Argentina, and numerous events in Europe. His home tango community is Portland, Oregon USA. He DJs regularly for Portland and Seattle events, plus other West Coast cities. His varied experience includes playing music twice at the Pioneer Encuentro in Salt Lake City, twice at the Pittsburgh Fierro Marathon, plus twice at Milonga Mafalda in Buenos Aires.

We’re excited to welcome DJ Alyssa Quinn Jernigan for the first time DJing at the Austin Spring Tango Festival! 💥

Although Alyssa was initially dragged into tango, she quickly became a convert after her first ocho cortado class. And after only a year of dancing, she became the President of the University of Oregon Argentine Tango Club. Since 2013, Alyssa has been a DJ at various festivals and marathons throughout the US and Shanghai, China. As a DJ, she strives to play accessible yet complex music that inspires dancers to connect within themselves, their partner, and their environment. Alyssa believes the best DJ sets are built on attentive crowd reading and an excessive number of empanadas.

We're pleased to present the detailed workshop schedule for Austin Spring Tango Festival 2027. All workshops will be held at the main venue, The Mansion.

Are you ready to be inspired and take your tango to the next level? ASTF is again bringing you world famous tango teachers! Take workshops with our brilliant Maestros through 3 Class Tracks with Lucila & Joe, Ariadna & Fernando and Silvina & Julio. No matter what your experience level is, we've got you covered. Each couple will be teaching, at different times, workshops suited for 3 levels of experience: 1. All Levels - classes suitable for all levels of experience, 2. Intermediate - classes designed for experienced dancers, 3. Advanced - classes designed for highly experienced dancers.

Individual workshops are available for purchase by Milonga Pass holders. If you plan to take more than a few workshops during the festival, a Full Festival Pass is the better value, giving you access to all of the classes.

With its beautiful historic character and timeless elegance, The Mansion provides a truly special setting in the heart of Austin. All workshops and all milongas except the Late Night Speakeasy Milonga will be held at The Mansion.
