What are the 5 Leadership Skills AI Cannot Replace?
Good news for leaders who are quietly concerned about AI.
It is not coming for your job.

It is coming for the part of your job you were probably not enjoying….

The analysis? AI handles it now.
The research? Done before you finish your coffee.
The first draft of that email reply? Already written.

What AI cannot do is sit across from someone who is struggling and help them understand how their behavior is affecting the teammate absorbing the fallout.

It cannot build the kind of trust that makes people tell you the truth rather than what they think you want to hear. It cannot stay genuinely curious when every tool in your workflow is designed to validate the position you already hold.

Those skills are not supplementary leadership qualities anymore.

In an AI workplace, these 5 thigns are the whole job.

SUCCESSFUL CULTURE CHANGE DOES NOT START AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ORGANIZATION

I've watched organizations spend months building culture committees, launching engagement task forces, and training middle managers.
Then wonder why nothing changed.

Here's the uncomfortable truth most leadership consultants won't say out loud.

Culture change stalls when senior leaders keep doing exactly what they've always done.

You cannot effectively delegate better culture.

Watch this if you lead people at any level.

THE REAL CULTURE KILLER IS NOT TOXICITY. IT'S THIS.

Ask a leader why their culture is struggling and they'll usually name a person.
The difficult employee. The bad hire.
The toxic dynamic.

And sometimes that's real.

But in most of the teams I've worked with, the problem is something quieter.
Something less dramatic.

Something that never shows up on an engagement survey. And it does more damage than any difficult person ever could.

I haven't heard other speakers talk enough about this.

Working with teams and leaders to improve collaboration and accountability for more than 30 years, a few three-word truths have proven themselves over and over again.

Progress requires conflict.
Trust requires proof.
Sorry requires change.

None of them are comfortable insights to accept.
All of them are real.

So, I’m curious what YOU have learned from leading and working with people.

“______ requires ______”

What 3-word truth would you add?

Anyone can book a speaker who fills a time slot.

The question worth asking is whether the message is sticky enough to show up in hallway conversations three weeks later.

That's what I mean when I talk about a Sticky Culture.

Not a one-day event that gets filed away and forgotten. Something that gives your people shared language, shared reference points, and a reason to keep investing in each other.

Ray also mentioned that I came as advertised.
That matters to me. I want every leader who researches me, reads my reviews, and decides to make the call to feel like they got exactly what they expected and then a little more.

If you want your next team event to still be talked about weeks later, I'd love to hear what your team needs.

Most safety programs never get around to asking this.
When the supervisor leaves the floor on a Tuesday afternoon and a shortcut becomes tempting, what does your team actually do?

Not what the handbook says they should do.
What behavior would they actually choose?

That gap between those two answers is not a training problem. It is a culture problem.

And no compliance update in the history of compliance updates has ever closed it.

The organizations with the strongest safety records are not the ones with the thickest manuals. They are the ones where people feel connected to a mission that matters and to teammates who are genuinely counting on them.

Compliance tells people what to do when someone is watching.

Culture determines what they do when nobody is.

So why do many workplace safety programs focus on compliance when the real issue is culture?

Learn what the research shows about engagement and safety outcomes, and what leaders can actually do to move their teams from compliant to committed.

Harvard Business Review just shared that the number one use of AI among employees shifted from generating ideas in 2024 to therapy and companionship in 2025.

Your people are turning to a chatbot for connection before they turn to the teammates sitting next to them.

That is not an AI problem.
That is a culture problem that AI is making visible.

Tools are getting more powerful.
The teams using them are getting more isolated.

And the leaders caught in the middle are being asked to close a gap that no software update is going to fix.

Learn what AI is actually doing to connection, collaboration, accountability, and adaptability on your team, and more importantly, what leaders need to do differently because of it.

What a fantastic morning with the team at Interroll!

With around 2,400 employees across 36 operating companies worldwide, Interroll keeps logistics moving for brands like Amazon, Coca-Cola, DHL, & Walmart.

The leadership group I worked with today in Atlanta are a big reason for that kind of client trust...

We spent the morning focused on something that separates good teams from great ones: the connection between organizational values and daily behaviors.
It's easy to post values on a wall or website.
The harder work is agreeing on what those values actually look like in action, every single day, across every division.

That's exactly what this group tackled today, along with improving collaboration across their divisions to serve clients even more effectively.

A special thank you to the team at Topgolf Atlanta for setting up such a welcoming space - the right environment always makes a real difference.

Telling someone "you never get stuff to me on time…” is the conversational equivalent of throwing a gr***de and wondering why the meeting went badly.

And yet... most feedback conversations start that way.

Not because leaders are mean.

Because nobody gave them a simple template for having the hard conversation without sabotaging the relationship.

That's what the POINT model does.

It walks you through a feedback conversation that the other person can actually hear without feeling attacked. And when people don't feel attacked, something shifts.

They stop defending.

They start listening.

Watch the video to see how to transform every tough conversation you have.

How do You Create a Culture Where People Fell Like They Matter?
People who bring their best to the team each day are not the ones with the best compensation packages.
They are the ones who believe two things:
1 - That the work matters.
2 - That they matter to the people around them.

Those two things do not happen automatically.
They are built deliberately, through Goals that carry emotional weight and Relationships that go deeper than the org chart.
Most teams have one or the other.

I wrote about how to make people feel that they MATTER in a team culture, and what leaders can do to build those two essential things...

If you lead a team and you are tired of watching talented people just go through the motions, this one is worth a few minutes.
