One thing I wish more people understood when planning an event: once you know your date and what you want, start booking.

I’ve had so many last-minute inquiries lately for dates that are already gone. Your favorite venue, decorator, caterer, DJ, photographer, bartender — everybody has their own calendar, and the good dates fill up fast.

You don’t have to have every single detail figured out before you start. Lock in the major vendors first, then build from there.

Waiting until the last minute can leave you choosing from what’s left instead of what you actually wanted.
