A key highlight was the seminar and hands-on workshop on Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB) / Bricks, which demonstrated the potential of locally sourced materials as sustainable and accessible alternatives for construction. The brick-making workshop was facilitated by the skilled artisans of the Bayangan Village Association, showcasing traditional techniques and the continuing relevance of local craftsmanship in contemporary architecture and affordable housing.
The celebration also featured a cultural and heritage tour led by Mr. Reynold “Dhudok” Y. Dalmacio, Municipal Tourism Officer of Lezo, Aklan, covering significant local destinations, including Bayangan Village, the Tourism Office/Museum, the Parish Church, and the Municipal Plaza. The tour deepened participants’ appreciation of Lezo’s cultural identity, local traditions, and heritage as integral elements of sustainable community development.
Through this collaborative initiative, World Architecture Day 2026 reaffirmed the role of architecture in bridging tradition and innovation, empowering local artisans, promoting sustainable construction practices, and advancing the vision of dignified and accessible housing for all.
Architecture is more than building structures—it is about preserving heritage, empowering communities, and building a sustainable future.
