This German-Swiss band, formed in 2018, stands as a formidable force in the modern metal scene. These musicians refuse to conform to one particular genre. They started out as a symphonic metal band, but since their 4th album 'Abyss'(2024) this changed: now metalcore breakdowns, djent riffs, electronic synths and even pop influences are part of their modern metal compositions. With shifting effortlessly from angelic cleans to brutal growls, their sound is endlessly unpredictable.

Ad Infinitum is part of Epic Metal Fest on Friday, blasting us right into outer space! 🚀

𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲: Lacuna Coil 🇮🇹

This Italian gothic and alternative metal band from Milan, founded in 1994 (initially under the names Sleep of Right and Ethereal), achieved international breakthrough in the early 2000s. Lacuna Coil is considered one of the most influential European metal bands of their generation, and they are still well awake! Last year they launched their tenth studio album 'Sleepless Empire', which combines their classic goth past with more rough, alternative metal and the interplay between vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro is more intense than ever. 🔥

As a part of Epic Metal Fest, Lacuna Coil enters the stage on Friday June 4.

Friday's headliner originated in Reuver, 2002, initially performing under the name Sahara Dust before changing it to Epica in early 2003. Their debut album 'The Phantom Agony', released in that same year, immediately put them on the international map of symphonic heavy metal. In 2025, their 9th studio album 'Aspiral' came out.

With over a million albums sold, Epica is one of the most successful Dutch metal bands abroad. Following three sold-out anniversary concerts at Royal Theater Carré, the band returns to Limburg to host their own curated Epic Metal Fest. 🔥

Their performance at South of Heaven will be the band's only Dutch festival show in the summer of 2027!

Formed in 1993 in Espoo, Finland, Children Of Bodom unleashed an absolute revolution in the metal world. Led by the legendary guitar virtuoso Alexi 'Wildchild' Laiho, the band fused the brutal power of death metal with neoclassical power metal melodies and shredding keyboards. The band split up in 2019 and in 2020, frontman Alexi Laiho passed away,
leaving fans heartbroken.

But the legacy lives on: Children of Bodom enters the stage in 2026 for the first time since 2019, as a celebration of their 30th anniversary. Long-time CoB friend Samy Elbanna ()will take charge of vocals and lead guitar. On top of that, original guitarist rejoins the core group. This reunion will be an authentic tribute to the first four albums, but even more to the legacy of Alexi Laiho. 🎸

These thrash legends from Germany, led by Mille Petrozza and drummer Ventor, started out in Essen as 'Tormentor' before rising to global fame as Kreator.

With their legendary album Pleasure to Kill (1986), they provided the ultimate blueprint for pure death and thrash metal aggression. In 2025 Petrozza published his autobiografy 'Your Heaven, My Hell' and the documentary 'Kreator - Hate & Hope' celebrated its world premiere.
Their 16th album 'Krushers of the World' is the musical climax of this trilogy.

By digging up their past they made it a soundtrack of the future.
At South of heaven, Kreator will combine new material with songs from the band's forty-plus-year history.

The wait is over: Epica, Ad Infinitum, Lacuna Coil, Children of Bodom and Kreator are the first bands we can finally confirm for our next edition!💥

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 June 4th will revolve entirely around Epica. In honor of their 25th anniversary, the symphonic metal band is bringing back Epic Metal Fest, featuring a lineup curated by Epica themselves. Lacuna Coil and Ad Infinitum are the first confirmed support acts. This will be Epica’s only Dutch summer festival show in 2027!

𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 June 5th Children Of Bodom will resurrect the reaper on stage, celebrating their 30th anniversary with a special reunion show in original line-up including original guitarist Alexander Kuoppola. With Samy Elbanna on vocals and lead guitar, the Finnish melodic death metal band honour the passing of their original frontman Alexi Laiho in 2020. This show will be a tribute to his legacy.

On 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 6th, founding fathers of German thrash metal Kreator will Krush mainstage. These metal icons from Essen have been proving their relevance for over four decades. In early 2026, they released their sixteenth studio album, 'Krushers of the World'. At South of Heaven, Kreator will combine new material with songs from the band's forty-plus-year history.
