We wish him every success as he begins this new chapter in service of one of the world's most extraordinary cities.

A special thanks to outgoing Mayor Luigi Brugnaro for the great work carried out over these 11 years.

🇮🇹 Buona Festa di San Marco 🦁 e buona Festa del Bòcolo 🌹!
Il 25 aprile è una data importante non solo per l'Italia, che festeggia la Festa della Liberazione, ma anche per Venezia! Oggi, infatti, si festeggia San Marco, patrono della città, e la Festa del Bòcolo (in italiano bocciolo).
Questa tradizione nasce da un'antica leggenda in cui Maria, figlia di un Doge, si innamorò di un giovane trovatore Tancredi. Il loro amore fu ostacolato dalla volontà del Doge, dalla battaglia in cui Tancredi cercò di coprirsi di gloria e alla fine dalla sua caduta. Prima di morire ha mandato però alla sua adorata una rosa rossa.
Così il bocciolo di rosa è diventato il simbolo d'amore a Venezia e un'ottima occasione per dimostrare i sentimenti alla dolce metà.

🇬🇧 Happy Feast of San Marco 🦁 and Happy Festa del Bòcolo 🌹!
April 25 is an important date not only for Italy, which celebrates Liberation Day, but also for Venice! Today, in fact, we celebrate San Marco, patron saint of the city, and the Festa del Bòcolo (in Italian "bocciolo").
This tradition was born from an ancient legend in which Maria, daughter of a Doge, fell in love with a young troubadour Tancredi. Their love was hindered by the will of the Doge, by the battle in which Tancredi tried to cover himself in glory and finally by his fall. Before dying, however, he sent his beloved a red rose.
So the rosebud has become the symbol of love in Venice and an excellent opportunity to show your feelings to your better half.
