History:
FOCUS Wales was established to provide the annual new music showcase event for the Welsh Music Industry. Our core work centers around the delivery of our international multi-venue showcase festival taking place in Wrexham each year, which places the music industry spotlight firmly on the emerging talent that Wales has to offer the world, alongside a selection of the best new acts from across the globe. FOCUS Wales 2027 will mark the festival’s 17th year, and will welcome over 25,000 people to the town, building upon 2026′s record attendance across a jam-packed weekend of events. There’s no place like Wrexham during FOCUS Wales, as we showcase 250+ artists from across the world, fill out a variety of spaces and music venues, using 20 stages, and hosting a full schedule of Interactive Industry Sessions, Arts events, and Film screenings, throughout the festival. In addition to the delivery of the FOCUS Wales festival, we also deliver a number international FOCUS Wales events throughout the year.

Amdani Wrecsam!

Since making Wrexham the permanent home of FOCUS Wales - 17 years ago - it has become an internationally recognised industry hub: the place to discover the best new music from Wales and across the globe, and home to a BAFTA and BIFA accredited Film Festival. Alongside its global reputation in sport, the arts, and play, we're proud to see the city and county receive recognition for its cultural contribution, and to be in with a real chance to become the first, Welsh City of Culture winner!

Ers gwneud Wrecsam yn gartref parhaol i FOCUS Wales – 17 mlynedd yn ôl – mae wedi datblygu i fod yn ganolbwynt diwydiant sy'n cael ei gydnabod yn rhyngwladol: y lle i ddarganfod y gerddoriaeth newydd orau o Gymru a ledled y byd, a chartref i Ŵyl Ffilm sydd wedi derbyn achrediad gan BAFTA a BIFA. Yn ogystal â'i henw da byd-eang ym meysydd chwaraeon, y celfyddydau, a chwarae, rydym yn falch o weld y ddinas a'r sir yn cael cydnabyddiaeth am eu cyfraniad diwylliannol, ac yn cael cyfle gwirioneddol i ddod yr enillydd cyntaf o Gymru o deitl Dinas Diwylliant!

Listening, learning and connecting with Wales’ grassroots music community. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Team MVT headed to Wales to spend time with the people at the heart of its grassroots music venues, bringing the community together to talk, share experiences and look at what’s happening across the sector.

The day created space for venue representatives to speak openly about what they’re experiencing, what they need and what needs to happen next.

That direct conversation matters. The numbers help us understand the bigger picture, but hearing from the people running these spaces every day gives those numbers context and helps make sure our work reflects what’s actually happening on the ground.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and shared so openly.

We’ll keep listening, keep showing up and keep fighting for a stronger future for grassroots music in Wales. ❤️
