🎉Amdani, Wrecsam!

Wrexham has been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2029.

This is a huge moment.

This is a chance to celebrate everything that makes Wrexham what it is. The creativity, heritage, humour, language, communities and all the culture happening here every day.

And if we win? Wrexham would become the first Welsh City of Culture.

‼️Following the success of prior events, Cheshire Literary Lunch is back for 2026!

📆The 2026 event will be held on Wednesday, 4th November
📍At the beautiful Owen House Wedding Barn, in the heart of the Cheshire countryside at Small Lane, Mobberley, Cheshire, WA16 7NU.

The Literary Lunch was founded by Sue France in 2013. Although 2024 was the last lunch she would organise directly, this incredibly popular and treasured event continues in the hands of book mentor and editor Siân-Elin Flint-Freel, and networking speaker, trainer and event host Kirsty James. Together they bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and, of course, Sue is right behind them, providing her support and guidance.

Both Siân-Elin and Kirsty are delighted to be continuing the legacy of The Literary Lunch. The annual event is a celebration of writing and reading, and a source of support and inspiration for those wishing to indulge their creativity.

🔎Murder Mystery script writing competition
Budding writers and murder mystery fans are invited to enter the Wrexham Carnival of Words Murder Mystery Script Writing Competition 2026. The Competition is open to any author with an original script that fits the brief and has never been published before.

📅The competition will run from 1 August – 30 October 2026 and the winning author will receive a cash prize of £100. The script will also be performed by local amateur actors at next year’s Murder Mystery evening during the Wrexham Carnival of Words literary festival in April 2027. The competition will be judged by best-selling author Simon McCleave who is a patron of the Wrexham Carnival of Words.
